WORKSHOP
17 May 11:00–18:00, POST 18 May 11:00–14:00, POST with Mika Satomi, Joris van Tubergen, Mili Tharakan In de workshop combineren we twee ambachten die elkaar zelden tegenkomen: 3D-printers en weven. De deelnemers krijgen de opdracht deze technieken te combineren om voorbeelden te maken van nieuwe materialen voor eTextiles en draagbare technologie. De workshop staat onder leiding van deskundigen van de Ultimaker-gemeenschap en de Swedish School of Textiles. Na anderhalve dag hard werken worden de workshopresultaten tijdens het netwerkbijeenkomst Meet the Scene gepresenteerd.
WORKSHOP In this workshop, we’ll pair two craft techniques that are unlikely to meet in everyday life: 3D printing and weaving. Participants will receive an assignment: mix the two to create samples of new materials that could be used for e-textiles and/or wearable technology. Professionals from the Ultimaker community and the Swedish School of Textiles will lead the workshop. After an intense day and a half, the workshop output will be presented at the network event Meet the Scene.

Na elk van de drie debatten (Thing Power, Crafting the Future en Augmented Society) kun je de discussie voortzetten in een informele sfeer, de sprekers een hand geven en aanschuiven bij een aantal belangrijke vertegenwoordigers van het veld om van gedachten te wisselen over het discussiestuk dat ze hebben meegebracht. Vergeet je visitekaartje niet!
MEET THE SCENE Meet the Scene is the place at DEAF2012 to extend your professional network. After each of the three debates – Crafting the Future, Augmented Society, and Thing Power – a Meet the Scene event will allow you to continue the discussion in an informal way, shake hands with the speakers, and join a mix of key players in the field at discussion tables to talk about the ‘discussion pieces’ they’ve brought. Don’t forget to bring business cards!
