Portraits of Encounter provides an opportunity to learn about Asian American experiences at Purdue. The discussion will include an exploration of diversity within Asian American identity, reflections on recent national surveys attempting to develop a portrait of the Asian American experience, and the challenges associated with inclusion and intercultural relations. OPENING RECEPTION: HAITIAN ART FROM THE WATERLOO CENTER FOR THE ARTS

Art Museum of Greater Lafayette – East McDonald Galleries 102 South 10th Street, Lafayette, IN 47901 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.

This exhibit of selected works from the collection presents highly stylized, visually stimulating, and thought provoking works depicting scenes of Haiti labor, life, celebrations, mythology, beliefs and practices. The exhibit includes paintings, pierced steel or wooden sculptures and sequined flags. The exhibit will be on display through March 17th. Co-sponsored by the Black Cultural Center and IU Health.
