Spend Memorial Day weekend in Montauk! On Saturday, May 28, and Sunday, May 29, South Edison (631-668-4200) kicks off the summer with special promotions and live music. Their extensive raw bar opens at 3 p.m. and all Six Point Craft Ales are half price from 2 to 7 p.m. The Montauk Yacht Club (631-668-3100) offers live music in the Barracuda Bar and Hurricane Lounge, where thin crust pizzas and calzones ($12-24), and “Barracuda Bites� are available. Navy Beach (631-668-6868) also has music all weekend and the full menu, including fish tacos with pico de gallo and lime crema ($12). Avanti Culinary Market in Water Mill offers special tastings on Saturday, May 28, and Sunday, May 29, starting at 10 a.m. Samplings include Avanti’s Grandma G’s spinach cakes, Kobe beef BBQ sliders and Steve’s Ice Cream. At 5 p.m., kids are invited to make their own snow cones on Saturday and mini-sundaes on Sunday. The restaurant known as Turtle Crossing in East Hampton launches a new style, look, menu and name – Turtle Crossing American Bistro. The focus is New American cuisine with fresh local fare such as grilled artichoke with herb butter and lemon tarragon dipping sauce ($14), and duck leg confit with potato cake and black currant ($13). Southwestern favorites remain on the menu with corn bread and signature slow smoked BBQ platters ($21-$27) available on weekends. Chef Matt Creason, of Manhattan’s York Grill, crafted an innovative American menu offering a refreshing take on traditional dishes. It features a fresh chilled seafood tower with lobster claws, jumbo shrimp, little neck clams, Jessups Neck oysters and Jonah crab claws; and slow- cooked Pacific halibut over market vegetables with fingerling potatoes, and a verjus beurre blanc. Lunch service will begin Thursday, June 16. Executive Chef Sam McCleland introduces new dishes to complement old favorites. Offerings include steamed mussels “Beacon Style� with garlic, white wine, lemon-thyme, cream and tomatoes ($14); crispy fish tacos with salsa verde, jack cheese and tomato emulsion ($14); and lobster mafaldine with roasted corn, basil, saffron and cream ($29).
