Margulies’ Alicia, on “The Good Wife.” * * * Shelter Island ceramic artist John Pagliaro has cast his own light on the young lovers in the latest installment of The Twilight Saga films by having one of his lamps made from bamboo and paper from bark featured on screen in a love scene between Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. * * * Should her hit daytime talk show not work out, Water Mill resident Kelly Ripa now has a solid backup plan: bridal consultant. The “Live with Regis and Kelly” co-host helped bridesto-be find the perfect gown on the season premiere of TLC’s “Say Yes to the Dress” last week. Said Ripa, “This could be the hardest job on the planet!” * * * Anderson Cooper helped Hamptons resident Joy Behar celebrate the two-year anniversary of her popular news show on HLN last week. * * * In celebration of the late Willem de Kooning’s first major retrospective at the Museum of Modern Art, Architectural Digest posted a photo spread of the late artist’s East Hampton home and studio, taken in January 1982, online. The pictures can be seen at www. architecturaldigest.com. * * * Designer Cynthia Rowley has put one of her Montauk homes on the market. At 500 square feet the 1930s bungalow is tiny by Hamptons standards, but its nearly one-acre lot warrants the $1.1 million asking price.

Town finances, given taxpayers a discernible tax cut, reduced the Town budget by $8 million and returned hundreds of thousands of dollars to the town coffers through public/private initiatives. The Supervisor is an example of a solid, honest, hard-working individual making the personal sacrifices 24/7 to get our town back on the right track with common sense solutions.” So why is this next election important for East Hampton Town? “Simple answer: East Hampton cannot afford to return to the destructive policies of the past McGintee era by electing inexperienced officials who were McGintee appointees. They have never successfully met a payroll and they have never met a tax increase they didn’t like.” As for her vision for the Republican Party moving forward, Duryea said, “We would like to stand up for the shrinking middle class in our community. We want to represent those who are resourceful and hard working; we would like to attract young adults to a vigorous movement to participate in their community and make a personal investment so they can continue to live and work and raise their families here. We want to provide opportunities through government and private partnerships for new thoughts and new ventures, and see established new goals from which all in the community will benefit. We would like to see civility at its best: people helping people because they are neighbors. We would like to be inclusive rather than exclusive; we need to remember that we can all learn from the past and look to the future.”

she now runs a pie business in Nashville, she doesn’t use the secret family recipe for her commercial pies. It’s sacred. I decided to retire it from contests. Earlier this year Chef Sarabeth Levine restored my faith in humanity. I asked her if she’d consider judging a baking contest for the Dan’s Papers staff. She was very enthusiastic about the idea. She showed up early and provided prizes for the winners. Our Sales Manager, Lori Berger, did manage to keep all the entries anonymous, but I’m sure that Sarabeth would have judged them all fairly regardless. Sarabeth tasted the entries multiple times and she didn’t just award the prizes. She spoke about why each entry was a winner, or not a winner, and how the non-winners could be improved. The fact that my Flourless Chocolate Cake won second place was very encouraging, but Sarabeth and her thorough, professional approach was an inspiration. She’s coming back this week to judge a second contest. I’m entering a cheesecake with a bacon crust. After that contest I’ll look ahead to next year’s in Montauk. I pledge to be the most non-partial, hard-working judge possible. I’m considering an all-chowder diet until the contest and also what water I should take along to cleanse between tastes. I’m thinking hard about what temperature the water should be. I’m thinking I shouldn’t wear any makeup or perfume or deodorant that day, right? Too much? You be the judge. See you in Montauk next September.
