Message from Jim Schaus Director of Athletics

Why Give? The Ohio Bobcat Club is the official fundraising organization of Ohio Athletics, and its purpose is to provide the resources to our student-athletes, teams, and coaches so they can succeed athletically and academically.

The past 12 months have been some of the best in Ohio Athletics’ history. Our Men’s Basketball program made a run to the Sweet 16 and our Football team claimed the 2012 AdvoCare V100 Independence Bowl trophy. Ohio also had its first individual NCAA Regional Champion in Women’s Cross Country, and Volleyball won the 2012 MAC regular season title. Over this same time period, Ohio Bobcat Club members have been stepping up as well. Those who contribute toward the Ohio Bobcat Club Annual Fund have helped the department in furthering its mission to successfully develop each student-athlete as a person, as a student, and as an athlete. Since 2006, we have seen membership and contributions grow to an all-time high in 2012-13. Your generous gifts are making a positive impact in the lives of each of the 420 studentathletes and for that I thank you! Even during this period of success for the Bobcats, your continued and increased support is needed now more than ever. Last year we were asked to generate $50,000 in new funding to compensate for a reduction in institutional aid for scholarships. We have been asked to do so again for 2013-14. To maintain our present level of departmental success we will need the help of our Ohio Bobcat Club members now and into the future. In order to continue to be academic and athletic leaders within the MAC, I have asked the Ohio Bobcat Club staff to find ways to encourage our members to increase their support. As a part of this, we are implementing a comprehensive change to our membership levels. These new changes are aimed at increasing the aid we provide to our student-athletes and providing a better donor experience in relation to their benefits. This has been a banner year for the Ohio Bobcats. I believe that overall we have taken a huge step forward in 2012-13 and a large part of that was because of the support of the Ohio Bobcat Club members. Success is a team effort. Thank you for making a difference as a valuable member of the Bobcat team. The best is yet to come.

Go Bobcats!
