Making disciples of Jesus Christ for the Transformation of the World

Our Annual Youth Pasta Dinner, Auction and Talent show that took place at St. Maria Goretti Hall last month was a huge success! The money raised will go towards scholarships for our children and youth attending church camp this summer. We would like to thank everyone who helped make this event possible.

Hey there everyone! I am so excited to get to know all of you at Dyer UMC! I grew up in the United Methodist Church, first at Griffith First and then at Church of Four Seasons. I was very active in the youth ministry throughout my teenage years. I graduated from Boone Grove High School in 2001, and in 2003, enrolled at Taylor University Fort Wayne, to explore my calling and pursue a Bachelors degree. Unfortunately, I didn't finish that degree, but upon returning home from school, I immediately began helping to lead the youth ministry. A couple years later, I was asked to become a member of the staff at COFS as the youth director. Since then, I have been working to provide those youth the same types of experiences, love, and acceptance, that I had received as a youth. I have a passion for helping this generation of young people do to two things: 1. Learn who Jesus is, and how to have a relationship with him; and 2. Learn how to be the Church that we are called to be. We kicked things off on Sunday, February 22. We took some time to get to know each other, and then started talking about the “Renegade Gospel.” Jesus was a radical in all the ways that he lived and interacted with people, and for the next six weeks leading up to Easter, as a church, we are going to explore this counter cultural side of Jesus and what it means for us. This is going to be a great time to talk about how we can be radical at home, school, and everywhere we are. I hope that you can be there on Sunday afternoons, 2-4PM at the ARK! Starting on March 4th, I’ll be adding an additional gathering. We’ll meet every Wednesday, from 6-7PM, at the ARK. We will discuss and plan ways we can help those around us. Once I’ve had a few weeks to get things planned, we are going to use the midweek time to actually serve in our community and surrounding areas. I am eager to see what impact we can make in the lives of those around us during this weekly time of service. If you have any questions for me, or just want to be able to stay in touch and up to date with what’s happening in the youth ministry, here are a few ways: Cell: 219-898-3283 Email: josh@cofsunitedmethodist.com Facebook: facebook.com/jruttledge Instagram: @jruttledge Twitter: @joshruttledge I look forward to taking this journey with you all in Dyer! -josh ruttledge Youth Director Church of the Four Seasons Dyer UMC Page 3

Be a Camper! Camp 2015!!! Church camp is one of the greatest spiritual experiences that a young person can have in his/her walk with Jesus. Camp is a commitment that I hope all of the young people in our church will prayerfully consider this year. If you have any questions at all about what camp is about or what you do there, talk to me or Josh or visit www.beacamper.com. This is such an amazing way to grow closer to Jesus; to spend an incredible week with your friends and to meet new people. There is scholarship money available. I will be praying for you as you seek God’s guidance in making this important decision. Through Christ, Pastor Jim.
