Hey there D38W owls! Wow, can you believe how quickly time has been passing?! For all of you who are seniors/juniors bee sure to stay on top of all deadlines for applying to colleges, scholarships and test registrations, and most importantly for everyone...member dues! Our Regional Training Conference is already this month, then we have Fall Rally and soon after than the year will be over. However, in between all of that we will have even more wonderful service projects available to you where we can bond and have a great time. Please keep in mind that even if you can’t come to one event, there will be plenty more to come and we would love to see you there!

Just keep hooting!

Aloha Bee-autiful Owls of Division 38 West! Wow, it is really October already? Time surely flies by when you are so caught up in the storm of school work, community service, and other extra-curricular work. But, the most important thing to do in these stressful times is to look back and reflect on all the wonderful things that you have done! We have worked hard and raised money for PTP and Project Eliminate, helped out the homeless community through the Grace Resource Yard Sale, and volunteered at the AV Fair. On top of all this, you have all engaged in your club functions, and continued to serve your homes, schools, and communities. Though this past month had its ups and downs, every second that I spent with you Owls was truly worth it. As we look forward to our immediate future, let us maintain our high spirit and passion for service!

L-O-V-E I love my D-I-V!

AV Fair Volunteering “The week long service opportunity at the Antelope Valley Fair Grounds was a fantastic experience. I enjoyed getting to know those who participated with me whether they were complete strangers or old friends because we were all from the same division. Not only did I bond with the other Key Clubbers that were there but also the Kiwanians. This service project provided myself and everyone else who volunteered with some great new skills and memories, I can’t want for Division 38 West to be a part of another service event!” - Josh Solis, Quartz Hill High School

“Volunteering at the fair was an interesting and fun experience. While there, I had the wonderful opportunity to meet other Key club members from all around our division. They were enthusiastic about volunteering and it was easy to keep a conversation going with people who have so much in common with you! The Kiwanians were very helpful and kind when we first started by telling us what our tasks would be and how to complete them. I enjoyed the entire experience and am excited for my next service opportunity.” -Prezious Brown, The Palmdale Aerospace Academy

Mayflower Gardens Talent Show “Performing here was an awesome experience! I’m glad that that we all got to share our talents with this lovely group of people. Despite the fact that we’re from different era’s and don’t have the same taste in music, we were all able to enjoy this time together.”

“I loved watching the people who had the courage to go p and show their amazing talents. Every person I saw had a smile or a kind expression on their face. Seeing how happy this talent show made the senior citizens made the long drive to the convalescent home worthwhile.

- Joy Han, Quartz Hill High School

- Oscar Avina, Littlerock High School

August DCM “The

August DCM was held at the Lancaster Boy’s and Girl’s Club and was an important learning experience for not only the members but also for me and our Region Advisor. Because we didn’t contact the manager of the facility the night before to remind him of our event, we were unable to use the building and follow through with our planned activities. Nonetheless, everyone who attended maintained a positive attitude and learned much about upcoming events such as RTC and Fall Rally. I was truly thankful for the members, officers, and advisors who attended for sticking through the DCM.” -Hyeveen Cho, Quartz Hill High School

Quacky Duck Promotion “Being inside of the Quacky Duck mascon suit was a bit uncomfortable but the smiles it brought to everyone who saw it made it worthwhile. Some kids were a little afraid when they first saw it but when they felt the charisma that Quacky displayed, their faces lit up with happiness. Dressing up in the suit not only made the place livelier but it also drew more attention to the approaching annual duck race which our Kiwanians host and it was great being able to help them as they are always helping us out. -Jorge Alonso, The Palmdale Aerospace Academy

Member of the Month: Division 38 West’s member of the month is Aubrey Gilman from Paraclete High School! She has been a truly dedicated member this past month by not only participating in the Grace Resource Center Yard Sale and August DCM but also ran for something awesome; Aubrey ran for a position on the Division Leadership Team and she got it. Aubrey will go above and BEE-yond in serving her home, school, and community!

Officer of the Month: Division 38 West’s officer of the month is Sherman Burroughs High School’s President, Annalyn Edulag! Despite the fact that her home club is nearly two hours away from the rest of us, Annalyn continuously works incredibly hard to provide her members and officers with more service opportunities. Her dedication and effort to Sherman Burroughs Key Club is absolutely inspiriting!

Club of the Month: Desert Sands High School has truly stepped up their game this past month and begun to engage themselves more in division functions. Many of their members volunteered at the Antelope Valley Fair and we home to see them at more of our upcoming events!

! Don’t forget to congratulate these Key Clubbers and club members the next time you see them!
