Focus on the World of Work Technisches Museum Wien www.technischesmuseum.at Erste Stiftung Die Erste Stiftung investiert in die gesellschaftliche Entwicklung in Österreich sowie in Zentral- und Südosteuropa. Als operative Stiftung entwickelt sie eigenständig Projekte in den drei Programmen Soziales, Kultur und Europa. Der Schwerpunkt im Kulturprogramm liegt bei der Förderung von Gegenwartskunst, -kultur und –literatur. Weitere Projekte 2012 sind u. a. die innovativen Vorlesungen „Patterns Lectures“ in Universitäten Zentral- und Osteuropas sowie die dritte Vergabe des Igor Zabel Award for Culture and Theory im November. /// The Erste Stiftung foundation invests in societal development in Austria and Central and South-Eastern Europe. As an operational foundation, it develops its own projects in three programmes: Social, Culture and Europe. The focus of the Culture programme is on the promotion of contemporary art, culture and literature. m die Diskussion zum Thema Arbeit zu bereichern, gehen das Technische Museum Wien und die Erste Stiftung neue Wege. Für die Ausstellung haben Pavel Braila, Anna Jermolaewa, Daniel Knorr und Ulrike Lienbacher Projekte entwickelt, die unter verschiedenen Gesichtspunkten auf einzelne Themenbereiche oder Objekte der Schausammlung des Museums Bezug nehmen. Zwei Pole erweisen sich dabei als bestimmend: Zum einen die technologieintensive Produktion unter dem Schlagwort Automatisierung Annäherung an das Thema Arbeit: ein Werk des Künstlers Daniel Knorr. /// Convergence with the issue of work: a piece by artist Daniel Knorr.
und zum anderen die arbeitskraftintensiven Aufgaben unter dem Schlagwort Dienstleistungsgesellschaft. Die vier Künstler loten sowohl das Thema Arbeit als auch ihren Ausstellungsort in vielschichtiger Weise aus. Ergänzend zu den für die Schau entwickelten Kunstwerken werden bestehende Film- und Videoarbeiten von Pavel Braila, Haroun Farocki, Anne Tallentire und Adrian Paci gezeigt. /// n an effort to enrich discussion of the issue of work, the Technisches Museum Wien and Erste Stiftung foundation are exploring new avenues. For the exhibition, Pavel Braila, Anna Jermolaewa, Daniel Knorr and Ulrike Lienbacher have developed projects relating to individual subject areas or items in the collection of the museum from different viewpoints. Two poles turn out to be decisive: firstly, technology-intensive production with the keyword automation, and secondly, more workerintensive tasks with the keywords service provider. The four artists sound out both the theme of work and their exhibition space at many different levels. To complement the artworks developed for the show, existing film and video works by Pavel Braila, Haroun Farocki, Anne Tallentire and Adrian Paci are also being shown.
