Its programme is wide-ranging, and designed to introduce visitors not just to the skills of young, innovative native chefs but also to the undoubted quality of typically Belgian dishes and products. And in an eort to present all this in as entertaining and original a way as possible, the event organisers have thought up a number of seriously new approaches of doing top-level food. There’s a “Gourmet Tramâ€?, for instance. For two hours every day, the tram will travel through the most beautiful districts of Brussels while the city’s best chefs de cuisine– none of whom has won less than two Michelin stars – prepare exquisite dishes before the eyes of the lucky passengers. Or there’s “Dinner in the Skyâ€? in June, when a futuristic restaurant for 22 guests will be lifted by crane to an eye-watering height, where guests will don their safety belts and subsequently be served a range of delicious dishes – once again, by chefs who have all won Michelin stars for their abilities. Or try “Brusselicious XXLâ€? for size, where artists will create giant sculptures during the summer months depicting typical Brussels dishes, including giant mussels, giant chips, giant chocolate and much more. Also on the programme will be a Wine Week (28 May to 3 June), a Slow Food Week (17 to 23 September), and a Film Festival.
