Desert AIDS Project An essential health care partner to the Coachella Valley and beyond since 1984 Our community can be proud of those local volunteers who, in 1984, responded to the challenges presented by the frightening and still mysterious epidemic that was killing so many, so quickly. Since 1984, their commitment has never wavered. Today, 400+ volunteers, along with a generous group of donors, continue to help Desert AIDS Project provide an impressive array of healthcare and social services. The Wells Fargo HIV Health Center at Desert AIDS Project’s main campus in Palm Springs is the center of our holistic approach as a certified “medical home” providing a continuum of comprehensive, compassionate care. That clinic is co-located with 16 other programs to provide clients with convenient, one-stop access to almost anything they could need. Even in the largest urban centers, this model of care and support does not exist. We know that expanded access to HIV care, as promised under the National HIV/AIDS Strategy and the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, is essential. Thanks to your support and that of so many others, we have been able to provide life-saving HIV/AIDS care and prevention services to those in our community for more than 27 years. Until we no longer have to say “AIDS is not over,” Desert AIDS Project will continue providing services to those with HIV and AIDS for as long as they need us.
