The Johnson’s operate a family operation along the Niobrara River SE of Gordon. Rod selects Krebs Ranch bulls that balance growth and performance with strong maternal traits. As a result, Rod and Donna have developed a productive and efficient cowherd noted for producing fast gaining feeder cattle. The best testimony on these heifers came from the man who’s fed the steer mates to them over the past 3 years. He reports that the Johnson cattle outperformed every other pen of cattle they’d bought in the same year, and finished out well ahead of schedule. These lot 5 heifers have performance in the blood!

Lot 6 – Pen______ Consigner: Jerry and Scott Fisher – Rushville, NE. 308-‐327-‐2940

Consignment: 100 heifer calves Genetics: Sim x Angus. All heifers are solid black. Large majority of heifers sired by sons of Sonic, which is a Legacy son. Average weaning weight of last 4 Krebs Ranch bulls purchased was over 730 lbs. Brands: 1 iron – home raised Health History: Birth: Alpha-‐7 Branding: Enforce-‐3 Pre-‐Conditioning: Vista-‐1, 7-‐way w/SOM, poured with Ivomec. Bangs vaccinated. Comments: No Replacements Kept. Feb/March born. No creep. Jerry and Scott Fisher run a set of 100% Angus cows that are mated to ½ blood Simmental Krebs Ranch bulls, making these good

heifers ¼ blood Simmental & ¾ blood Angus. Sonic is the dominant sire of these young females, which is also the dominant sire of the young cows in the Krebs Ranch Simmental herd. We can testify first hand, these will make unbelievably good mother cows! Over the past 3 years, the steer mates to these girls weighed 748 lbs. in. In addition (for 3 years in a row) they have been the high-‐ selling set of 7-‐weight steers on Superior, on the day they sold. You’ll put a lot of miles on your pick-‐ up trying to find another set of ¼ blood heifers with this much quality and genetics…don’t miss them, they are the real deal. Hybrid vigor and maternal heterosis!!!

Lot 7 – Pen______ Consigner: Travis Binger – Hay Springs, NE. 308-‐430-‐0564

If you want a set of heifers with more body, hip and bone…then put these on your list. This set will make a powerful set of brood cows. These cattle have kept Bingers in the beef business for generations. These are the kind that will keep you and your program moving in the right direction.

Lot 8 – Pen______ Consigner: Steve Sandberg – Hay Springs, NE. 308-‐232-‐4421 Consignment: 60 heifer calves Genetics: 1/8 blood Simmental x Angus. Comments: No Replacements Kept. Steve is offering you the biggest and best end of his replacement heifers, hand-‐picked from over 100 head. Steve has attended a lot of Krebs bull sales over the years, and has used Krebs bulls in his program for a lot of years. Just as you would expect, the dams of these good heifer calves will be stacked with highly maternal performance genetics. These heifers will be stick outs

in terms of muscle and shape. Steve has put emphasis on keeping thickness in his cowherd, and it shows when you look at the tops and hips of these beefy heifers. It takes years to breed cattle with this kind of power and muscle structure…here is an opportunity. Heifers have been grazing meadow regrowth with no supplement other than salt and mineral.

Lot 9 – Pen______ Consigner: Shane and Becky Spanel, Burwell, NE. 308-‐348-‐2252 Consignment: 40 Heifer Calves Genetics: Straight Angus. A.I. sired by the $15,000 KR Cash 4033, along with Hammer & Rocky Brands: 1-‐iron / home raised Health History: Branding: Enforce 3 & Bar-‐Vac 7 Pre-‐Conditioning: Bovisheild Gold 5, One Shot Ultra 7, Permectin Fly control, Weaning: Titanium 5 & Ivomec pour on. Comments: Feb/March born. Shane and Becky pay very close attention to their genetics. These heifers have not one, but several generations of performance A.I. breeding behind them. The Spanel cowherd carries the blood of some of the best known female sires at Krebs Ranch, such as Hammer, Rocky & Aberdeen. The $15,000 Cash soon behind many of these good heifers had a weaning weight of 825 lbs! Spanel’s recently had the chance to go back and see the heifer calves they sold in last year’s Fall Round-‐ Up Sale, and report that they made an absolutely awesome set of breds. If you are serious about performance genetics, these heifers are a must see. Good cattle being offered from a good program.

Lot 10 – Pen______ Consigner: Guggenmos River Ranch, Brewster, NE. George Epp: 308-‐214-‐0897 Consignment: 30 heifer calves

Genetics: All sired by 2 sons of Rocky. All ½ sisters. Brands: 1 iron / home raised Health History: Branding: 7-‐way, Enforce 3, Poured with Ivomec Weaning: Bovisheild 1-‐shot, 7-‐way, poured with Ivomec & drenched with Safegard. Bangs vaccinated. Comments: NO REPLACEMENTS KEPT. March/April Born. Here’s a package of heifers with a true program behind them. George Epp and the Guggenmos River Ranch collect and track as much data as anyone in the business. They’ve built a program designed to improve carcass value, while stressing maternal performance. For 20+ years, they have operated a complete conception to consumption testing program for Accelerated Genetics. In fact, Guggenmos River Ranch was honored as the 2012

CAB Feedlot of the Year. As evidence that their efforts are paying off, the Guggenmos cattle have hung with 95% grading choice or better, and 70% of those making CAB! You couldn’t pack more predictability and performance into these cattle if you tried! It’s tough to find females with this much documented, fact-‐based data behind them.

Lot 11 – Pen______ Consigner: Bill Johnson, LaGrange, WY. 307-‐575-‐3026 Consignment: 20 Heifer Calves Genetics: Straight Angus. Sired by sons of Rocky and Identity. Dams are 100% Krebs genetics. Brands: 1-‐iron / home raised Health History: Branding: Pasturella 1 shot & Vision 7 Pre-‐Conditioning: Pasturella 1 Shot, Bovishield Gold 5 Weaning: Vision 7, Bovishield Gold 5 & Ivomec pour on. Bangs vaccinated. Comments: Feb/March born. No creep. For the second year in a row, we welcome back Bill Johnson to the Fall Round-‐Up Sale with another top consignment of straight Angus heifer calves. Bill has, over the years, bought some of the absolute top individuals from our Denver carload bulls to use as herd sires in his operation. His eye for cattle will is as good as you will find. Every heifer in this lot is sired either by a son of Identity or a son of Rocky, both of which were produced in the Krebs embryo program. Identity and Rocky are both closely related to each other on paper…which makes these cattle ½ sisters to one another, in blood. This adds a layer of consistency, predictability and uniformity that will pay dividends over the long run. This isn’t the largest offering in terms of numbers, but they are busting at the seams with genetics and program. Lots of history and quality in the Johnson cowherd.

Lot 12 – Pen______ Consigner: Lucas and Kendra Bear, Merriman, NE. 785-‐694-‐3296 Consignment: 35 Heifer Calves Genetics: Straight Angus. Herd sires are sons of Cash, Rocky & Gunsmoke. Brands: 1-‐iron / home raised Health History: Birth: Alpha 7 Branding: Express 5 & Pasturella. Injected with Ivomec Long-‐Range. Pre-‐Conditioning: Express 5, Pasturella, 7-‐way Weaning: Ivomec pour on. Stool samples collected and examined by vet to verify parasite control. Comments: NO REPLACEMENTS KEPT. March/April born. No creep. We were sure excited when Lucas called and consigned his heifers to this year’s Fall Round-‐Up Sale. This set of heifers is the very top cut

from his 2016 calf crop. Lucas and Kendra insist on large pelvic measurements in the Krebs Ranch bulls they bring into their operation. As a result, the females they raise are “hands-‐free” cattle at calving…routinely having 80 pound calves with zero assistance. They also put extra emphasis on udder quality and milk production, keeping milk at an optimum level to maximize breed back and body condition scores. This year’s preg check verified that the program is working…with only 3% opens in the cowherd. Take advantage of a set of cattle bred with fertility and production in mind. Lucas, and his father-‐in-‐law Wayne, have trusted Krebs Genetics in their cowherd for as long as we can remember.

Lot 13 – Pen______ Consigner: Krebs Ranch, Gordon, NE. 308-‐282-‐2021 Consignment: 22 Heifer Calves Genetics: Purebred Angus. Registration papers available for $50/head. Brands: NO BRAND Health History: Birth: Alpha 7 Branding: Express 5 & Pasturella. Injected with Ivomec Long-‐Range. Pre-‐Conditioning: Express 5, Pasturella, 7-‐way Weaning: Ivomec pour on. Stool samples collected and examined by vet to verify parasite control. Comments: Feb/March born. This is a package of big, stout, purebred Angus heifer calves right out of the registered Angus cow herd at Krebs Ranch. Genetics include Cash, Hammer, Joe Canada, Black Jack and others. They are being offered as commercial heifers with the buyer’s option to take the registration papers for and additional $50.00 per head.

Every female that sells in the Fall Round-Up Sale is eligible to receive 1 free straw of semen/head from the sires

listed on the back page of this catalog. Bred Heifer Division This will be an elite group of bred heifers from long-‐time Krebs Ranch customers. Several of the heifers have been synchronized and AI’ed…many to the popular calving ease sire, Barstow Cash. Several groups are home raised that will be stacked deep with multiple generations of highly maternal Krebs Ranch Genetics. Every bred heifer selling will have been pregnancy tested twice, and will already have their 1st Scour-‐guard shot. These heifers are 100% ready to go. These heifers will be sorted and will sell according to calving date. Winning bidder will be allowed to take a minimum of 10 head, up to the entire pen.

Lot 14 – Pen______ Consigner: Krebs Ranch, Gordon, NE. 308-‐282-‐2021 Consignment: 45 bred heifers Genetics: Purebred Angus. Sell with option on registration papers at an additional $50.00/head. A copy of pedigrees/EPD’s will be available sale day. Brands: All home raised. Freeze branded with I.D. on rib. Brand matches tag in ear. Breeding Information: A.I. and natural service to Apollo, Joe Canada, Tundra and more top-‐quality, calving ease sires. Due Date: February 1th 2017. Ultrasound Preg checked by Dr. Justin Ward, D.V.M. Health History: In September: Injected with Ivomec Long Range AND poured with Ivomec. Preg-‐Guard November: Scour Boss 9, Vira-‐Sheild 6 VL5 Comments: This is a big, good-‐looking group of bred heifers that are coming to you directly from the pen of replacement heifers at Krebs Ranch. Eldon has decided to reduce the number of bred heifers

that Krebs Ranch will calve next spring…and is making this package of registered females available in this year’s Fall Round-‐Up Sale. These heifers are sired by Identity, Cash, Simulator, Gavel, Rick O’Shay and other well known “cow-‐makers” in the Angus breed. In terms of EPD’s and pedigrees, these girls are just as impressive on paper as they are in person. Whether you decide to run these females as registered cattle or commercial cattle…you won’t go wrong. Either way you wean one of the biggest, most powerful sets of Angus calves you’ve ever weaned.

Lot 15 – Pen______ Consigner: Weller Ranch, Kadoka, S.D. Bill Weller 605-‐209-‐8556 Consignment: 46 bred heifers Genetics: ½ blood Simmental x Angus. Sired by sons of Longevity. Dams by Final Answer. Brands: All home raised. 1 iron or NO BRANDS Breeding Information: Synchronized on May 20th & AI’ed to HF Simulator. Followed up with a $15,000 calving ease son of Barstow Cash from Krebs Ranch. Due Date: February 25th 2017, Ultrasound pregnancy tested safe by Dr. Don Beck D.V.M. 35 head safe A.I. 11 head safe the next cycle to Cash son. Health History: In September: Injected with Ivomec Long Range AND poured with Ivomec. Preg-‐Guard In November: Scour Boss 9, Vira-‐Sheild 6 VL5 Comments: March/April born. The Weller Ranch has topped the Fall Round-‐Up Sale in years past, but this set of home raised, ½ blood bred heifers may be their best offering yet. These bred heifers are peas in a pod, and for good reason. Each female is sired by a pair of Longevity brothers (Simmental) and out of Final Answer dams. The heifers have an Angus look about their heads and bodies, but with an extra dose of muscle and bone. If disposition and gentleness is important to you…then you will love the way these work and handle. To tell you just how fancy these heifers are, Bill hauled a set of these to the N.I.L.E. in Billings, MT…and they were named the Reserve Grand Pen of commercial bred heifers over the entire event! You don’t find ‘em like this every year. Heifers are already cake broke.

Lot 16 – Pen______ Consigner: Krebs Ranch, Gordon, NE 308-‐282-‐2021 Consignment: 49 bred heifers Genetics: Straight Angus. Brands: 1 iron or NO BRANDS

Breeding Information: Bred to ½ brothers by Cash and Apollo Due Date: February 10th 2017 for 50 days, Ultrasound pregnancy tested by Dr. Justin Ward D.V.M. Health History: In September: Injected with Ivomec Long Range AND poured with Ivomec. Preg-‐Guard In November: Scour Boss 9, Vira-‐Sheild 6 VL5 Comments: A broody and maternal offering of bred heifers that were handpicked, last spring, and bred specifically for this sale. These heifers are consistent and uniform in type and kind…and impressive in terms of the muscle thickness and body volume they possess. One main regret is that the service sires of these bred heifers won’t be at the sale for you to look at…they are a powerful group of bulls! Cash and Apollo are the 2 leading calving ease sires in the Krebs Ranch program. The calves form these bred heifers are geared to come easy at birth and grow fast to weaning.

Lot 17 – Pen______ Consigner: Pieper Red Angus – Hay Springs, NE. Consignment: 20 bred heifers Genetics: Red Angus – ranch raised Brands: 1 iron. Breeding Information: Syncronized and AI’ed on April 25th to PIE Cinch 4197.

These will calve quickly and easily. We think these females have “cow” written all over them. They are feminine and smooth in their design with the kind of body volume and rib depth that will allow these heifers to mature into an efficient & easy keeping set of females. Already cake broke.

Comments: Krebs Ranch is offering a smaller group of good quality bred heifers that have been ultrasound tested for pregnancy and confirmed safe to a calving ease son of Hook’s Xavier, who has a low birth weight EPD of -‐.09. Here’s an easy way to add growth, performance, and power to your cowherd. Take advantage of the hybrid vigor and heterosis offered in this package. Already cake broke.

Bred Cow Division The females selling in this division are young 3 & 4 year old Angus cows that Eldon purchased for use as recipient cows in the Krebs Ranch Embryo Program. We put embryos in the cows this spring, and then turned them out with Hereford and Angus bulls. We ultrasound pregnancy tested all of the cattle in August, and the females being offered in this sale are the cows that are bull bred. The cows are all bred to Angus and Hereford bulls and will be sorted and sold according to sires, (either Angus or Hereford) and calving dates. Winning bidder will be allowed to take a minimum of 10 head, up to the entire pen.

Lot 19 – Pen______ Consigner: Kevin Sasse, Wounded Knee, S.D. 605-‐685-‐4255 Consignment: 125 Bred Cows / 3 & 4 yr. olds Genetics: Angus and Black Baldies Brands: Yes Breeding Information: Bred to Krebs Ranch Angus Bulls Due Date: March 1st for 45 days Health History: Fall: 1st Scour-‐guard and poured with Ivomec Comments: This could be the nicest set of cows we’ve offered from long time consigner, Kevin Sasse. These are feminine & deep sided brood cows that have a really maternal “momma-‐cow” look to them. An even and uniform set of young cows that will bring in a big strapping set of calves next fall. The customer who bought Kevin’s cows in last year’s Fall Round-‐Up, sold the calves off of them this past November and topped the sale on both the steers and heifers. Those cows preg. checked this fall with only 3% opens. These possess the same kind of productivity and fertility. A nice set of cows.
