is about graduate with a Higher National Diploma in Garden and Landscape Design. His tutors, guest lecturers and course judges include gardening celebrities such as Matt James of Channel 4’s The City Gardener; Richard Sneesby; award winning designer Chris Beardshaw; editor of RHS’ The Garden, Chris Young; and Professor James Hitchmough, contributor to the Olympic Park planting. “It’s really good to learn from these sorts of people,” said Luke. “They’re at the top of their careers and they’re industryexperienced. I’ve been able to pick up lots of ideas that I can incorporate in our work with our customers. ” Luke started BEFORE Man for all Seasons in 2008 and has recently had a relaunch with fresh branding and a new website to showcase their services. It’s something of a family affair because he’s joined by his dad Mark as well as a dedicated apprentice gardener, Ryan, and office manager Sammy. The team has just started the 2016 lawn maintenance programme for regular customers. Luke says putting the effort in now will reap its rewards later in the year: “Ideally, lawn maintenance should begin in March and certainly needs to be started by the end of April. “We’ve had a very wet winter and the grass will probably need some care and attention before it can be cut. The ground will need to be aerated to help it to dry out and scarification will remove any moss or thatch. Then you can think about giving the lawn its first mow of the year.” Luke’s grass cutting and general garden maintenance rounds are

timed to suit customers so can be weekly, fortnightly or monthly. Luke can also advise on what and when to plant: “If you just want some colour for spring and summer then plant lots of herbaceous perennials. I like to mix those with some shrubs and evergreens so you’ve got something interesting happening all year round.” Luke has a particular passion for growing fruit and vegetables and is happy to show you how you can grow your own food: “There’s nothing more satisfying than eating food you’ve grown and it saves on your shopping bill. More and more people are keen to do this now but they don’t know how. Give me a call and let’s get it started.” When it comes to garden makeovers, Luke and his team can provide the whole AFTER package, from design and clearing to planting, landscaping and fencing. He also uses a qualified tree surgeon. Whatever look you’re after, Luke will deliver: “Contemporary gardens are very popular,” said Luke, “but traditional gardens are still popular too. We’re also getting a lot of work from people who’ve moved into new builds, where they just need a bit of help introducing some colour and individuality.” Visit the Man for all Seasons website or the Facebook page for more information or ring the office to book a free on-site consultation.
