Bearcats rout By Richard Bravo Copper Basin News The fourth ranked Ray Bearcats remained undefeated as they routed their rival Hayden Lobos 48-14 Friday night in front of a packed house at Dave Mcfee Memorial stadium. The Bearcats started the scoring in the first quarter as Joe Rudy Lorona gave the Bearcats the point lead as he scrambled 5 yards for the first score of the game. on their second offensive possession the Lobos were forced to punt from deep in their own territory. A bad snap on the attempt gave the Bearcats the ball in excellent field possession and on the very next play the ‘Cats extended the lead on a 5-yard end around by wide receiver Bravo. A successful two point conversion by quarterback Destry Yocum put the cats up 16-0 at the end of one quarter of play. The start of the second quarter of play began the same way as the first. It ended with the Bearcats finding the end zone as the cats drove 68 yards down the field, capping the drive on a 20-yard run by Lorona for his second
touchdown of the game. The two point conversion by running back Nick Lara gave the cats a 24-0 lead with 10:54 left in the first half. The Lobos responded half way through the quarter as Lobo running back Aaron Lagunas ran 24 yards for the Lobos first score of the game. The two point conversion cut the Bearcat lead to 16. With time winding down in the first half the Bearcats went to the air as Yocum connected with receiver Seth Harmon on a 21-yard touchdown pass.
