No. of graduates: 118 Valedictorian: Dakota Blake Clark Salutatorian: David Christopher Mulkey Cleburne County High School held commencement exercises for 118 seniors on May 21 at the stadium. Valedictorian is Dakota Blake Clark. He is the son of Robert and Deborah Clark of Heflin and the grandson of the late Lewis and Oma Clark, formerly of Edwardsville, and the late C.B. and Elizabeth Snider, formerly of Jacksonville. clark Clark was president of his senior class, president of the Student Council, president of the Health Occupational Students of America, captain of varsity basketball team, was a member of the CCHS Chapter of the National Beta Club, Math Club, and Students Against Destructive Decisions. He plans to attend the University of Alabama at Birmingham on a Collegiate Honors Scholarship and study pre-medicine for dentistry. He has been accepted into the UAB Honors Program and the Howard Hughes Phage Medical Research Program at UAB. Salutatorian is David Christopher Mulkey. He is the son of Neal and Theresa Mulkey of Heflin and the grandson of the late Dr. John and Faith Hensleigh, formerly of Anniston, and Neal and Magdalene Mulkey Sr. of Heflin. Mulkey was mulkey president of the CCHS Chapter of the National Beta Club, was chosen “Most Likely to Succeed,” was a member of the American Mensa Society, the A Honor Roll throughout high school, Spanish Club, Math Club, Senior Beta Club, vice president of

HOSA, trains in mixed martial arts and Jiu Jitsu, was a member of the football, basketball and wrestling teams, is a licensed Congregational Methodist Minister and has been a youth minister for five years. He plans to attend the University of Alabama at Birmingham on a Golden Excellence Scholarship to study pre-medicine and pursue a career as a radiation oncologist. He has been accepted into the Experimental Learning Scholars Program at UAB.

Phil Murphy will speak. Baccalaureate services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Asberry Baptist Church. Darren Hamby will speak. Valedictorian is Kristi Shea Browning. She is the daughter of David and Tammy Browning of Jacksonville and the granddaughter of Don and Sue Browning of Anniston and James and Serre Tisdale of Jacksonville. Browning was browning selected George Smith’s Top Teen of the Week, Exchange Club Student of the Month, received the National Guard Scholar Athlete award, Algebra II with Trig award, was a Bryant Jordan representative, Wendy’s Heisman finalist, class president, National Beta Club Vice President, Students Against Destructive Decisions President, Spanish Club Historian, a member of the Math Team, Student Council and Key Club and was captain of the varsity cheerleading squad. She plans to attend Jacksonville State University on a Faculty Scholarship and a Pleasant Valley P.T.O. Scholarship. Salutatorian is Corey Lee Shackelford. He is the son of Dean and Trina Shackelford of Jacksonville and the grandson of Jerry and Sandy Pitts of Anniston and Harry and Mary Shackelford of Anniston. Shackelford’s awards and honors include: Physical Science Award (10th grade), History Award (9th-11th grades), named Top Teen in Calhoun County by The Anniston Star, named to the Capstone Leadership Academy, English Award (10th grade), and National Guard Scholar Athlete. He

was a member of the Senior Beta Club (President), yearbook staff (Sports Editor), Students Against Destructive Decisions, Scholar’s Bowl, and EnviroBowl. Baccalaureate services will be at 8 a.m. today at Faith Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Lanier Wood, assistant pastor of Cross Creek Church in Birmingham, will speak. Valedictorian is Cole Stephens. He is the son of Mark and Kathy Stephens of Anniston and the grandson of Ron and Dot McKinney of stephens Anniston. Stephens was an Alabama Boys State representative, a member of Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership, Youth Leadership Calhoun County, had the highest academic average in Spanish 2, chemistry, Algebra I and II, was president of the National Beta Club, a member of the choir, Writer’s Bowl Team, was a class officer in grades 7-11, and he played varsity basketball and soccer. He plans to attend the University of Alabama at Birmingham on a Collegiate Honors Scholarship and major in biomedical engineering. Salutatorian is Denise Nicole Holman. She is the daughter of Bobby and Gayla Holman of Anniston and the granddaughter of Bobby holman and Linda Holman of Tuscaloosa and Coy Bolton of Millerville. Homan won second

place for “Remembering the Holocaust” writing competition, was a homecoming court representative, a member of Alabama Governor’s School, received The Anniston Star “Top Teen” award, was a member of the National Senior High Beta Club, FCS, Key Club, was a tutor at Learning by Faith ESL Center, and is a member of Westwood Baptist Church and youth group. She plans to attend the University of Alabama on a Collegiate Scholar Scholarship and major in English. Historian is Chelsea Carolyn Robinson. She is the daughter of Jim and Laura Robinson of Anniston and the granddaughter of A.D. Shaw and Betty Sue Robinson, both of Anniston. Robinson was class president, robinson Homecoming Queen, president of the Beta Club, a member of the Drama Club, president of the choir, a member of the All-Tournament basketball team, played volleyball and softball, and works with the Children’s Ministry at her church. She plans to attend Jacksonville State University on a Leadership Scholarship.
