PUBLISHER’S LETTER I love being in the flow of life, and observing how everything is unfolding and making perfect sense. Everything is coming at the right moment. When I put together each magazine, I feel that my writers and I are guided by spirit. Each month’s articles and columns have a theme, and they give each issue a totally different form and feeling than the previous month. I love this freedom of creation that takes this magazine to what people need the most at this moment. This month’s theme is about authenticity; how to be true to yourself, taking off your mask, and getting rid of what’s not helping us anymore.

Nine years ago, when I started working at the Spiritual Learning Center as Walter Perschke’s assistant, I wondered if working one-on-one with Walter would be good for me. I was scared that he would discover my pitfalls and insecurities, and that he would not like me the way I was. Before that I was working in corporate America, where besides your supervisor and cubicle coworkers, nobody even knew your name! Working with Walter was a blessing, as he not only accepted me for who I am, he made all my insecurities my attributes!

Being authentic is more than looking good in someone else’s eyes; it’s being true to yourself.

I have a few introductions of new people, interviews, and columns to Conscious Community Magazine, print and online!

First of all, I want to introduce Laura Slivinski, our newest editor, who along with Julie Roberts, who has been our main editor for three years, and Susan Pluto, editing also for three years, will make sure that the magazine is flawless. Laura also wrote “The Healing of Halloween” in this issue, continuing Walter’s tradition of a Halloween article each year.

Next, we have an interview with Don Miguel Ruiz Jr., written by Kaye Berjot, our Cosmic Daily Weather columnist. Ruiz is coming to Infinity Foundation in Highland Park on October 22 to do a daylong workshop based on his new book The Mastery of Self: A Toltec Guide to Personal Freedom.

Also, I want to introduce you to a new column: Review of Alternative Medicine, where we will be presenting the power of nontraditional modes of healing and health. HALL OF FAME INDUCTEE MICHAEL MCALEESE

On August 8, 2016, Michael P. THE Healing of Halloween By: Laura Slivinski

The change of the seasons is underway. Summer is waning. Days grow shorter and cool night wind rattles the dry leaves of forests and cornfields. The annual cycle of life in the heartland is ending. Winter is coming. Historically, Halloween was a time to celebrate a good harvest (or fear starvation through the coming dark months when crops failed) and a time to honor the dead.

The way we feel about the harvest has changed over time, though. In the 21st century we don’t worry about starving due to crop failure. Trains and trucks bring produce from distant, more successful harvests. In a review of Nicholas Rogers’ book Halloween: From Pagan Ritual to Party Night, Publishers Weekly observed that “Rogers shows how the holiday is a hodgepodge of ancient European pagan traditions, 19th-century Irish and Scottish celebrations, Western Christian interpretations of All Souls’ Day and thoroughly modern American consumer ideals.” (1) Over time, perhaps as urban and industrial lifestyles allowed people the free time and provision to be bored and in need of entertainment, the annual tradition of Mischief Night began to grow increasingly unruly and destructive in urban areas. Mischief Night began in the United Kingdom in the 1700s. It was a night when children were indulged by allowing them to play innocent pranks like knocking on doors and running away, wearing masks, and begging for treats. The phenomenon that came to be known as Devil’s Night rose from Mischief Night.

In Detroit, Michigan, beginning in the 1930s, city youths engaged in minor pranks on the night before Halloween. Over time, the annual mischief spread into surrounding residential communities, and grew from mischief to violence. Throwing eggs and rotten vegetables at windows became breaking windows in homes, stores and cars. Fires were set in trash cans, and then in buildings. The unrest became extreme in the 80s and 90s with hundreds of instances of arson. Finally, in the aftermath of a dramatically violent Devil’s Night, the city responded in 1995 by initiating Angel’s Night. In this new honoring of the Halloween holiday, 40-50,000 Detroit citizens organize annually to patrol Detroit’s streets and communities through the night, deterring violence and vandalism. (2) Walter Perschke’s article Halloween: The True History is one of our most cherished writings of his here at Conscious Community Magazine. (3) The long history of names given to the celebrations of the harvest season and the ways by which they are observed, tell a story of shifting powers in faith and culture that span centuries. Walter described in detail the practice by Christian and Roman missionaries of overwriting the old religions by rescheduling their holy days to correspond with pagan

celebrations, by rededicating pagan holy places to their own gods, thereby usurping worship there. The demonization of the old religion continues in the present, but there are some who believe there is something for everyone to celebrate. Blogger Jason Mankey summed it up this way in his article A Halloween History: “Halloween is a pagan holiday, and a Catholic one, but mostly it’s a secular one. . . . Halloween is a blending of folk traditions and capitalism.

Halloween doesn’t endorse a particular religious view, it speaks to what’s best about us as people; it allows us to build something new while paying respect to our past.

As a Pagan I’ve always looked at “Halloween” and “Samhain” as completely separate holidays. I spend time with my gods and my ancestors on Samhain, and on Halloween I dress up in costume, throw parties, and pass out candy. One of them is a secular holiday, and the other is a time for spiritual growth.” (4) The celebration of the harvest has been part of our life since man learned to grow food. Though this ancient festival has experienced dark times in a world grown prone to chaos, it has been the intervention of a conscious community that has restored honor for the ancient traditions of all faiths in ways that step away from violence and oppression, that heal and bring peace.

Walter Perschke believed strongly in the reality of change. He urged his students and readers to participate in and to create change. He believed in letting all people be who they are, in honoring all faiths, and so in October we remember Walter, and honor him. We celebrate the turning of the year, the cycle of life, the power and responsibility we have to contribute to the healing of our timeless and sacred harvest tradition.

An Interview with Don Miguel Ruiz Jr.,

Don Miguel Ruiz Jr: This book has been a long time in the making. I originally started it while writing The Five Levels of Attachment: Toltec Wisdom for the Modern World. At the time The Five Levels of Attachment was the focus, and The Mastery of Self was a separate topic. It was only recently that I was able to complete the book, so that is the reason for releasing it at this point in time.

KB: Can you tell us a little about the course that you will be leading at the Infinity Foundation on October 22?

MR: Yes, I’m excited to have been asked to return to the Infinity Foundation. The course will be on the topic of The Mastery of Self, and I will be using the principles from the book. Every class is different. Therefore, I really rely upon the energy of the room to help guide the class.

By: Kaye Berjot Don Miguel Ruiz Jr. is a Nagual, a Toltec Master of Transformation, and author of his third book, The Mastery of Self: A Toltec Guide to Personal Freedom. I recently was able to have a phone conversation with Don Miguel about his inspirations in creating the book, and the message that he delivers in it. He takes a Toltec philosophy of the Dream of the Planet, and offers us a road map to reclaiming our Authentic Self. He reveals how the tools of awareness, understanding, and unconditional love can free us from any inhibiting beliefs, stories, or ideas that are keeping us from living our best life possible.

In October 22, Don Miguel will lead his second course at the Infinity Foundation, in Highland Park. During this session, one can expect to understand the principles of The Mastery of Self, and start experiencing them.

Kaye Berjot: What inspired you to write The Mastery of Self? And why now?

KB: In the book you talk a great deal about domestication. What is the difference between domestication and boundaries?

MR: Domestication is the primary system of control, and has a reward or punishment system in place. Boundaries are different, in that they are there to protect.

KB: How does one manage The Mastery of Self without damaging the relationships around them?

MR: Relationships require renegotiation. For some relationships, the renegotiation naturally happens, yet for some they do not, and they require some sort of relearning of how to be in the relationship. I speak about this in the book.

KB: What is the difference between a spiritual person on this journey, and someone in the academic layer?

MR: With The Mastery of Self, any of these individuals can utilize the principles of the book. The difference in the spiritual community is that many of the terms and concepts are already understood; whereas within the professional academic setting, the principles are applied differently, yet the meaning remains the same, and can be mapped back to the terms used within their professions.

KB: In the book you start out by mentioning the Toltec Warrior, and the things that take place when she starts out on her journey. How does the feminine play a role in the Toltec tradition?

MR: Throughout the book the feminine and masculine terms are interchanged. I started with the feminine because I learned about the Toltec traditions from my grandmother, Madre Sarita, and my father, Don Miguel Ruiz. It was intentional on my part to begin with the feminine aspect, because she is the representation of the Toltec Warrior at the beginning. I am helping to fulfill her (Madre Sarita’s) goals in sharing the Toltec traditions with as many people on the journey as possible, because in the past these traditions were only able to be passed down to certain people. It was my grandmother’s dream to pass them along to everyone.

Long ago, and oh so far away, I was a professional actress. I remained in the industry for 15 years, until I reached a point at which I felt discouraged and disempowered. It was a precarious lifestyle – I’d get an acting job on a tv show or on the stage, and I’d feel like I was on top of the world. Then I’d get nothing for months, and would feel frustrated, and emotionally drained.

While I loved it (and I’m so glad that I lived it), it was a difficult life. I left the business in 1999, but felt that one day I’d end up re-visiting it again on my own terms. Now here I am 17 years later, and I feel the performance bug knocking on my door once again.

I have been working with a writing instructor for the past three years at Chicago Dramatists. Her name is Arlene Malinowski, and she is a one-ofa-kind mentor and coach. One of the classes she offers advanced writers is aptly titled, From Page to Stage. The writers in the class have three days where we share our scripts with each other, and based on colleague feedback, we rewrite them (and rewrite, and rewrite…). Then we have a short one-and a-half hour rehearsal with a director, and end the course with a staged Saturday afternoon reading at the Chicago Dramatists Theater.

There is something very sacred about performing on the stage, especially when sharing a piece that you wrote yourself. I was privileged to share the stage with six other talented writers/performers, each of whom had their own unique voice, and remarkable stories to tell.

Ralph Gerbie opened the show with a reading from his wonderful piece, Growing Up Gyne. The wit, humor, imagery, and punch with which he performed this heartwarming ode to his father really set the audience up for an afternoon of delicious and delightful drama. The next piece was a reading of I’m a Writer by my dear friend, Doug Widowski. I’ve known Doug for three years, and I’ve grown to really enjoy his intelligent writing style and his dry wit. He’s a man who has been through the wringer, and still manages to see the wonder in everything. Next up was R.C. Riley.

She did a stellar job of performing a segment from her solo show, Wrong Way Journey. The piece was extremely painful and powerful. Like all great writing, she masterfully mixed humor with pathos, and pain with laughter.

Her writing was raw, and her performance courageous and very inspiring.

I was the fourth performer to take the stage, with a reading from my work in progress, Truth Be Told… It’s a fun, yet poignant adventure in which I share my spiritual musings in India with the insights that fairytale characters share as they incessantly drop into my meditations. Several who know my story say that it is reminiscent of the book, Eat, Pray, Love.

In actuality, I think it would more aptly be titled Starve, Pray, and Work Super Hard to Love! One of the audience members took me aside at the end of my performance, and thanked me for having the courage to share my craziness on the stage. I think that says it all. The next performance was an incredibly touching piece by Margaret Ghielmetti, entitled Burning Bright. I watched her perform this ode to her mother twice yesterday; in rehearsal and performance, and I wept both times. She really touched my heart – taking me back to memories of my own childhood, as she morphed into the zany world of her own childhood imagination. Her piece drove home the power that our mothers have over us, and is a poignant reminder of how important it is for us to move through the pains of childhood, so that we can close the circle of life, and be fully present with our dying parents. The next piece, Ode to Pain, was written and performed

by Kathleen Kollar. Passionately performed, it was a sobering reminder of the power that pain and pills can have over us. The final piece was Santa’s Last Christmas! performed by Raymond Wohl. It’s not About the Website FROM THE HEART

A young entrepreneur came to me complaining that she was having trouble completing the text for her website. “Where is the roadblock you are hitting?” I asked Barbara.

“It’s the About Me page,” she answered with a contorted face that told me how painful this process was for her. This is the page that most entrepreneurs get hung up on, the very one I have had countless coaching sessions to help clients get posted.

“Do you have any doubts about presenting yourself to the world?”

“Well, yes. . .” she answered sheepishly. “I question if I am really qualified and if I am worth people paying me for my services.”

“Got it. . . Now let’s put the web page aside for the moment, and look deeper,” I suggested, knowing precisely where we were headed. “Who taught you to doubt yourself?”

“My father was a newspaper editor and highly critical of me, especially

when it came to English. Even beyond that subject, there was nothing I could ever do that was good enough. If I did a project with 99% excellence, he wouldn’t compliment me on my achievement. Instead, he would criticize me for the deficient 1%.”

“And even though you have grown up and moved out of your father’s home, his voice still lives in your head, constantly banging at you for never being perfect.”

“That’s right.”

Nearly every person I have ever coached has voiced some variation on this theme.

“So your current challenge with your About Me page is just one more instance of a theme that has been going on for your entire life.”

“It is so.”

“Then let’s reframe this: You are now being presented with an opportunity

to finally break free from this lifelong oppressive voice within you, implanted long ago by your father, that has debilitated your progress in ways far more serious than the website.”

“If I could do that, it would be tremendous!” she answered, her face lighting up for the first time since we met.

“Then let’s do a role play,” I suggested. “I will represent your father. I won’t say anything, but I will give you a chance to say to him what you wished you could have said when he criticized you as a child, or when his judgmental voice chides you as an adult.”

Barbara sat up straight, looked me in the eye, and spoke firmly. “Dad, I know you love me and you want the best for me. But I can no longer live under the whip of your criticism. Every time I did something as a child, or an adult, you found something wrong with my action and with me. Your judgments have kept me small for my entire life. I am not willing to live with them and allow them to impede me anymore.”

Then came the tears.

“I am a bright woman with a good heart, strong skills, and a significant contribution to make. I want to do that through my new business and other avenues down the road. I know I can do this, and I do not need your permission to live the life I choose and to create a successful career. So I now release all the dark criticisms I have borne for so long, and I step with confidence into a richer life.”

Barbara’s tears had cleared and her eyes shone. She looked like an entirely different person than the one who had complained about her inability to complete her web page.

“How do you feel now?” I asked her.

“Freer than I have felt in a long, long time.”

“And how do you feel about setting up your About Me page?”

“Ready,” she answered with a smile. “Totally ready.”

A long silence ensued. Barbara’s eyes lit up as she said, quietly stunned, “It wasn’t about the website, was it?”

No, it wasn’t about the website. The website was directing Barbara to look inward for her answer. Her block was about self-image, self-esteem, self-confidence, attitude, beliefs, and expectations—the factors that make or break any endeavor. The business and relationship situations in your life do not have a life or reality of their own. They are reflections of your psyche, the images you hold about yourself projected onto the screen of the world. As James Allen brilliantly stated, “We think in secret and it comes to pass. Environment is our looking glass.”

Situations that bother us are not curses. They are arrows pointing us to places in our mind where we are holding illusions. When we can identify the illusion that is causing us pain, we are ready to discover the truth the illusion was covering. When we do, we are free.

It’s not about the website. Or the relationship. Or the job. Or the money.

Or the world. It’s about waking up. When we do, everything changes.

The Courage to Ask for Help THE SHARED HEART: HEARTFULNESS By: Joyce and Barry Vissell

I have to admit; I have a hard time asking for help. I have that “false pride” thing about being able to do it myself, that if I have to ask for help, it means I’m helpless. I’m like the two-year-old who proclaims, “I can do it myself!” Now that I’m on the other side of the life spectrum, at 70, it means even more to be able to do things by myself. A recent weekend brought all of this to light.

I pulled our 19-foot sailboat up to Lake Tahoe to experience sailing and camping on the largest alpine lake in North America. Yes, I was alone. I would have preferred that Joyce accompany me, yet she wanted to stay home and help with our newborn grandson, and I have a need for occasional solo adventures.

By the time I launched, I only had a few hours of daylight left. The wind had died down, so I started my outboard motor and headed toward a small beach I found on the map. I didn’t get very far. The motor sputtered and died, and I couldn’t get it started again. When I pulled on the starter cord, the flashing red light proclaimed “low oil.” I forgot to check the oil level before launching. Did I have extra engine oil stored in the boat? Of course not!

A faint breeze allowed me to inch into a private boat harbor and tie up to the only vacant mooring buoy as darkness was descending (a miracle in itself). I slept that night in the boat.

In the morning, I saw a boat leaving the harbor. Perhaps they might have some engine oil. I only needed a small amount, maybe half a cup, to allow me to start the motor, yet that would require asking for help, flagging them down by waving, inconveniencing them, and showing my helplessness.

I swallowed my pride, flagged them down, and asked the young man for oil. He didn’t have any, but gave me a ride to the dock, where I could walk a half hour to a small convenience store. On the way to the store, I practiced asking for help/oil a few more times without success. I noticed however, that most people were very nice, wanting to help, even though they couldn’t. They felt needed, which brought out their best.

how much joy it gives others to help me, and that problem size doesn’t matter; I can feel my dependence on God and the angels in all situations.

I bought a quart of engine oil at the store, walked back to the dock, got another ride out to my boat (more asking for help), and added the oil to my engine. I got it started, but just barely, and headed across the vast lake to an area of small, hidden, pocket beaches. As long as I squeezed the primer bulb hard and continuously, I could keep the motor running.

Obviously, the low oil was not the problem; there was something else wrong with the motor. I kept waiting for the wind to pick up, so I wouldn’t be so dependent on the motor, yet alas, it wasn’t to be. There was no wind the entire day! Hard to believe on such a huge lake!

My hands were cramped and exhausted from all the squeezing, when I saw a cute little beach. About 100 feet offshore, the motor finally died. I pulled on the starter cord with no success. I finally jumped into the lake, holding a length of rope attached to the bow, and started pulling the boat to shore. Amazingly, a man on the beach called out, “Do you need any help?” At that particular moment, however, I was actually doing fine, and enjoying being in the cool lake water. A part of me silently added, “Barry, you just missed another opportunity to ask for help, whether you could do it yourself or not!”

The next morning dawned practically windless again, and I decided to end my trip, and get back to the boat ramp as soon as possible. I pushed off from shore, and while again inching at a snail’s pace from the beach, tried to start the engine. Nothing! I kept at it. For three hours I pulled on that starter cord, trying every trick I could! I’m amazed the cord didn’t break, leaving me in much worse condition. All the while, I hoped the wind would finally come up, yet that was not to be.

I practiced asking for a tow from other boats that passed, yet no one offered that level of help. I called a boat towing company that was happy to help… for $375! I said I’d call them back.

It finally dawned on me… not in all this time had I even thought to ask for divine help. Why not? Nothing is too small or insignificant for the angels, those heavenly helpers. I let go of the starter cord, placed my hands on the motor, and asked the angels for their all-powerful help. I asked sincerely, then gave thanks for their help. I pulled the cord once more.

The motor instantly roared to life! I had to laugh at the odds of that happening. I yanked on that starter cord maybe 1000 times with no success, said one prayer to the angels, and voila! What a lesson! I could imagine a group of angels sitting around just waiting for me to ask them for help, perhaps having this conversation: “Is he asking yet?”

“No, he’s still pulling on that cord, trying to do it himself.”

“How many hours has it been now, in Earth time?”

“Hey, wait. He’s finally asking us for help! Okay, who wants to bless that motor?”

I sincerely hope I can finally learn the joy of asking for help; from people, from angels, from those I can see, and can’t see. I hope I can remember

THE GOD FORCE, GOOD KARMA AND MONEY ISSUES THE MAGICAL WORLD OF NUMBERS By: Elizabeth Summers

By October, the beautiful season of Fall has arrived bringing with it new looks in Mother Nature, new weather conditions and new life styles for we humans as we begin our nesting for the next several months.

As Mother Earth began to wind things down in the month of September, the final surge of energy blasts forth in October as if to say “I am not done yet”! For all, there is a sense of fate stepping into one’s life. There can be a change of fortune, a moving in a different direction, an opening of luck and even a witnessing of miracles!

The Number Ten is one of the good Karma codes that can bring prosperity to those who deserve it. If life’s struggles have been burdening you, step back; view everything from a larger perspective allowing a broader vision or realization to take form.

This tenth month of the calendar year has all the energies of a compound Number. Not only does Ten carry the qualities of ONE but the ZERO “super charges” Number One which adds to its intensity.

Therefore, October is the time to stand on your own and use all your energetic skills to the positive that currently may be buried in your subconscious.

The ancients believed that the ZERO symbolized eternity, wholeness, oneness equaling the power of God. To these believers, this glyph was the Alpha and Omega concept represented in the geometric of a circle.

Basically, the Number One, intensified by the Zero, represents drive and focus. This intellectual and masculine energy represents “no nonsense’ leadership. Ambition and determination are then buzz words. Being a “bossy boss” is a danger here.

Metaphorically speaking, the ZERO is like a Delco battery sitting on the store shelf full of force and power. It is not until the battery is connected to the motor in a car, for example or some mechanical device, that this battery and specifically one’s life, that it literally gets one’s motor of life charging ahead!

The ZERO in the tenth month of the year “supercharges” the single Number One and intensifies it to move forward with courage, intellectual direction and initiative.

Let’s examine just what is being supercharged by ZERO that can bring a new exciting energy to many in October as they say, write, and think the Number Ten. October, the tenth calendar month equates to the Wheel of Good Fortune in Tarot cards. Very interestingly, money always seems to be in the news in October. Stock Market downturns, lottery winners, budget concerns….all seem to grab the headlines.

However, happily, the Number Ten is not a nasty Karmic Debt Number which usually leads to personal and financial losses in a lifetime. The Number Ten is not about a debt still to be paid and rectified but an energy to be enjoyed as a consequence of good behaviors and choices made in this incarnation and/or previous human lifetimes. There is a freedom connected to this Number that says “your debt has been paid and now you may begin again”.

There is much more focus under the Number Ten. This intellectual vibration leads one to take one step at a time towards goals unlike the possible completions and emotional confusions of September. Having said that, know that October can be a culmination of a series of events that bring success and material accomplishments to you. The justice of the Universe is in play.

In October it is important to see life from a larger viewpoint. Destiny or fate step in under this code filled with surprises, changes in direction and rapid developments that bring new beginnings.

You may feel more determined to stand alone, make decisions, arrive at inventive solutions and have all the courage needed to carry them out.

Should failure and loss plague you instead, understand that every circumstance in life is the result of choices and you are experiencing the consequences of those out of alignment choices.

Regroup, trust that you will be guided and move on because the Wheel of Good Fortune keeps turning and there is another October in your future.

Johrei was developed in Japan during the 1930’s by the Japanese artist, philosopher, ikebana master and spiritual leader, Mokichi Okada (Meishu-sama). An Examined Life Together YOGA FROM MY EXPERIENCE

Socrates Several years ago, we went on retreat with the sage Mahamandaleshwara Swami Veda Bharati. Our first instruction was to relax our foreheads during conversations with one another. As a couple, we spend a lot of time together. While talking, we learned to gently feed back the facial expressions we saw on the other’s face. I realized I should smile more and frown less otherwise I might be misunderstood. Words are one thing; facial expressions can detract from or add to the intention!

My husband and I are celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary this month! I’ve been thinking about how we’ve grown over the years. We’ve consistently returned to yoga’s guiding principles our whole marriage.

Our common yoga training was marked with reminders to be aware of our thoughts, our actions and our speech, and to carefully monitor their qualities. As a result we endeavor to be aware of and control our effect on each other and the world around us every day.

In my last article, August 2016, I talked about the jnanendriyas, or the five “wisdom senses” through which we take in information: smelling, tasting, feeling, seeing and hearing. Humans also send out information via the five actions called the karmendriyas. This word translates literally as “active senses.” Where the jnanendriyas passively receive information, the karmendriyas actively produce and send information out via activities.

According to Samkhya philosophy, the organs of action include the anus, sex organs, legs, hands, and mouth. They are the primary organs by which we express ourselves.

The karmendriyas explained lightly: We release what we no longer need and create waste via the anus; we convey emotions and recreate via the sexual organs; we walk about the earth via legs and demonstrate body language via our gait; we use hands to touch, show affection and create many things; and we communicate words and speech, facial expressions and kisses via the mouth.

Samkhya philosophy further expounds that these activities create karma.

Karma is the Sanskrit word for action. If we’re proficient and conduct our actions carefully, we create harmony in the world. Otherwise, if we’re careless, we create re-actions or residual “bad” karma. Examples: Sexual activity should always be expressed consensually. The hands can exhibit kindness by touch or they can demonstrate much stronger emotions.

To act against one another then is contrary to nature.”

The five active senses deserve serious consideration for those working consciously in this life. Evermore we strive to reduce the strong aspects of ego, but never to the point of self-condemnation. We attempt

We quickly acknowledged this activity was quite a challenge! It required measured speech and, very importantly, it required that we learn to say the unpleasant in a pleasant manner. We still practice this. Such self-awareness translates as increased understanding in our conversations and life together.

The goal of yoga is to realize our connection to the inner Truth. The Yoga Sutras teach ahimsa and satya as the first aphorisms toward that goal.

Respectively, to “do no harm” and “truth,” these are important lessons in all human relationships. Ahimsa is the first principle (see article Kindness, October 2014) and satya is second because kindness is more important than honesty. That is, the truth can hurt sometimes, so yogis learn to say difficult things gently so as not to cause undue stress or bad karma.

Swami Veda also said, “The most beautiful thing is a couple meditating together.” Spiritual relationships, marriage or otherwise, grow during such intimacy. Indeed, it’s some of our favorite pastimes, sitting silently together. Together we access the happiness that lies within.

Ishvara Pranidhana is the yogic aphorism that teaches us to practice the presence of god right with you. We trust that, if there is a god, the dwelling place is within each human heart. We try to recognize that divinity within each other. We find this makes it easier to uphold the other person’s dignity in all situations. And our mutual support for one other is a foundation as service to god in all people.

Our yoga training also taught us to work together, to strengthen the body, quiet the mind, to adjust to one another and to cultivate santosha, contentment. We have broken old patterns and forged new habits to cultivate the relationship we want. Humans are wealthy in the ability to recognize and deliberately shape our own lives.

Our yoga mentors consistently emphasized that “life means relationship,” that we need to “find our purpose in life,” and that marriage is an excellent platform for mutual growth. Our purpose in this relationship is to continue to grow spiritually, to the best of our ability, and help each other to that end.

And we hope to continue at least another 30 years!

Overview

October starts out with the New Moon energy of Libra that occurred on the last day of September. This means that the energy will flow through the entire month like a breath of fresh air. It also means that there will be a lot of work that needs to be done, so it’s not a month to take a break! Throughout the month there will be some intense T-squares that will challenge you to push through any limitations. You will question, you will rethink, and you will rearm yourself. Mercury will come out of shadow at the end of the first week of the month, and with that you will find some clarity, or at least you’ll gain information that you didn’t have before. Your emotional heartstrings will be pulled with this energy, and on the 14th of the month, the day before the Full Moon, you’ll feel a release of energy that will push you into action. During the tail end of the month there will be an amazing Grand Fire Trine, a double T-square, and some humbling moments that are sure to make you breathe a sigh of relief. There comes a moment when all of the planets are on deck, which means that they are all in action, cleaning house. Venus will be the only planet not involved in the action, because she will be making sure that every planet clears out their spaces, so that she, along with Jupiter, can paint a new canvas. October is a month that can change you, because it moves from the energy of Libra to the energy of Scorpio, which is the sign of death and rebirth. Happy Halloween!

The Moon, Sun, and Jupiter are seeking stabilizing energy, and are demanding change. Mercury, however wants you to hold off on making any sudden moves for another week because he’s still covering old ground.

Mercury is finally exiting his shadow…yippie! As he gets closer to the planet of expansion he comes bearing gifts. Jupiter, the planet of good luck is all about that, and may have a thing or two to say to Pluto and Mars that could very well change a few of your strategies, which would allow you to balance things out more evenly in your favor. With the Moon in Capricorn nestled against Mars and Pluto we have the urge to get work done. You might want to declutter, and only focus on the things that you cherish the most. There’s no time like the present to balance out your life, now that Mercury has provided you with a good dose of reality.

Monday, October 3 The Moon positively aspects Mars today, and the story of your life is unfolding at a pace that is exciting, yet mildly uncomfortable, due to the stress points with Jupiter and the Sun. A little bit of comfortability is expected when you have so many opportunities coming your way. You don’t have to choose them all, just try to pick out one or two that have a real future.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!

The Moon has a short conversation with Venus, Pluto, and retrograde Neptune. How emotionally involved have you become with certain scenarios, and how much do you want to nurture change?

Pick what you want to provide energy and effort to in the long run.

Wednesday, October 5 Oh yeah! The Moon and Mercury are having a tête-à-tête, and this is the closest that you’ve come to having real mental clarity since Mercury went retrograde last month. You don’t have all of the answers just yet, since Mercury is still in shadow, yet there is a sense of relief. You were absolutely right to change course when you did, because following the path that others wanted you to follow could have landed you in places that you had no business being in. Moon VoC ends 3:27 AM in Sagittarius.

Thursday, October 6 Does it seem a little like Groundhog Day, or that somehow the day is repeating itself? Well it’s not, although there seems to be some tension from recent decisions today, yet it isn’t the same. The Moon and Saturn are nestled together, and positively aspect the Sun and Jupiter, and loosely aspect Mercury, indicating that you are emotionally satisfied with what you’ve learned. It’s like there was an unveiling of the truth, and you had a front row seat.

Sunday, October 9 The Moon makes a harsh angle to Uranus retrograde this morning. Don’t let that scare you. There‘s no need to become all frayed at the edges. Venus and Neptune Retrograde are encouraging this much needed change, so just go with it. Moon VoC 11:52 AM until tomorrow morning.

Monday, October 10 The Moon in Aquarius positively aspects Jupiter and Mercury today. Don’t get carried away with emotion. Yes, excitement is in the air, so love yourself enough to allow that excitement to warm you up like a warm bubble bath, rather than a pot of boiling water.

Tuesday, October 11 You are emotionally charged, and raring to go. Mercury sits in Jupiter’s lap today, and couldn’t be happier. There are so many stories that Mercury has to tell, and the planet of good luck is just eating it up. Libra is of course very happy with all of this comradery, because she loves a good story, especially ones that promise long lasting relationships and surprisingly creative partnerships. Wednesday, October 12 Making big moves can be frightening; just because it’s Halloween month, don’t you dare get a case of “I’m scared.” Although Uranus is retrograde in Aries and squares the Sun, he’s actually functioning in a less chaotic way. This is Uranus the innovator at work, and not Uranus who drops the other shoe. Just relax. Moon VoC until 7:44 AM in Pisces.

Thursday, October 13 Hmm, so today the Moon in Pisces has a meeting scheduled with retrograde Neptune. Sometimes meetings like this can take you on a walk down memory lane. If you go too far down that lane you could find yourself lost in a place that you shouldn’t be. The memory is only there to remind you of where you no longer need to be.

There’s no need to swim in tainted waters.

Friday, October 14 Yowza, that was a close call! Yesterday you almost got swept away in a dream. The Moon, Chiron, and Venus are having an amazing conversation today. Together they are celebrating a job well done.

Somehow you allowed your wounds to be your guide, and you made it through a troubling situation with grace and finesse. VoC 2:14 AM to 10:09 AM in Aries.

Saturday, October 15 Ok, remember how yesterday was celebration day? Today is the aftermath, which means that it’s time to throw out those old painful Neptunian memories, so that you never have to revisit them again.

If you can try to get it done before the Full Moon occurs, this way you won’t have to spend the next couple of weeks emptying out old items. You can instead spend it cleansing your energy field. Full Moon in Aries 11:25 PM. VoC 11:24 PM until 10:04 AM.

Sunday, October 16 Venus, the planet of love has a front row seat at the event of the year. Every planet in the sky is doing something productive. What others might see as a tense conversation; she sees as a welcome sight. Why, you might ask? Because you’re providing her with a blank canvas, so that now she can make just about anything happen, especially when Jupiter, the planet of abundance is sitting in her native sign of Libra for a year. Monday, October 17 With the Moon in Taurus, you’re feeling more grounded. After the marathon cleaning spree during the Full Moon, no one would blame you if you wanted to take the day off. Mars and Pluto conjunct in Capricorn aren’t going to let you off that easily, so gather up some additional energy, and as Capricorns would say, get to work. VoC 9:48 AM until tomorrow.

Tuesday, October 18 The Jupiter/Mercury conjunction has separated. This allows Jupiter the opportunity to gain a better understanding on which areas of your life need balancing, and quite honestly, a little bit of attention, prior to February 2017. VoC 9:31 AM in Gemini.

Wednesday, October 19 The Moon in Gemini positively aspects Jupiter today, while squaring Neptune, and opposing Venus and Saturn. You could have the urge to talk a great deal about your values, especially now that Venus is in Sagittarius. to one of those values that seems a bit odd. Did you just speak into existence an emotional attachment you never knew you had?

Thursday, October 20 Nothing but blue skies today. Yeah, there’s rumblings of movement, yet those rumblings don’t seem like thunder. That’s because the Moon is having beneficial conversations with Mercury, the Sun, and Uranus. Because our emotions are constantly changing, it’s nice to be able to have them somewhat stable. VoC 6:18 AM until 10:29 AM in Cancer.

Friday, October 21 There are a few T-Squares in the sky today, involving the Moon, Jupiter, Mars, Pluto, Mercury, the Sun, and Uranus. There are a couple of ways that you can manage this; you can look to Jupiter to find the way through, or you could look to the Pluto and Mars conjunction in Capricorn. Jupiter will tell you that there are plenty of options to develop relationships, yet he will counsel you to look towards the Mars - Pluto conjunction, and just go and do the work already. After all, the faster you’re able to complete the work, the quicker he will be at opening doors.

Saturday, October 22 The skies are lit up! There are two Grand Squares taking place, so what was a T-Square yesterday has grown into something that could take you over the edge. There is so much noise that you can’t seem to listen to all of the voices; it’s like everyone is talking at once.

With that said, what would happen if you changed the frequency?

Would all of those voices start singing in unison? Each with its own melody to contribute…hmm, let’s try that. VoC 2:15 PM until 2:35 PM in Leo.

Sunday, October 23 It’s like Groundhog Day, and you’re back at Friday, yet it’s Sunday.

What looks the same, is not the same. You’re not the same. When the Moon arrived in Leo you changed, and although you aren’t able to put it into words exactly how you changed, you are fully understanding and appreciative of the fact that you have. Saturn is breathing a sigh of relief.

Monday, October 24 Oh Yeah!! We’ve got a Grand Fire Trine occurring in Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius. If you’re singing “ain’t nobody gonna break my stride, ain’t nobody gonna slow me down,” that’d be the right song to sing.

With these three signs, you have the curiosity to cast the net wide, and to explore as far and wide as your passions will take you. VoC 7:22 AM until 10:17 PM in Virgo.

Tuesday, October 25 After all the excitement of yesterday, the Moon is in Virgo, and is asking questions of Venus and Saturn in Sagittarius. Just remember that your emotions change all the time, even when in earth signs like Virgo. Don’t allow fear and overthinking to stop you from reinvention. If Saturn and Venus didn’t want you to strike out in this di-

rection, then they would have put the kibosh on this strategy while they were cleaning out the cupboards.

Wednesday, October 26 Oy vey, when the Moon meets up with the North Node in Virgo, you had best believe that this is a “sit at the kitchen table moment,” meaning that no one can want this change more than you do. No one will have as much information about your situation as you will.

You’re going to have to trust and believe that you have what it takes to build your dreams, even during the most stressful times. So, grab a cup of tea, and a piece of intoxicating humble pie. VoC 1:34 PM until tomorrow morning.

Thursday, October 27 You have your marching orders, according to the Moon and Mars.

When Mars and Pluto are in Capricorn the only option is to build.

Do the work, eat the pie, do some more work, and then drink some tea (or a nice glass of wine). This isn’t make-believe that you are constructing. This is real life, and it requires that you take an active part in creating, restructuring, and rebuilding. Jupiter in Libra shows you that you don’t have to do it on your own. VoC until 8:52 AM in Libra.

Monday, October 31 As the Moon breaks off from its slumber party with Mercury and the Sun, you could feel a little melancholy. Yet the positive aspect to a retrograde Neptune provides you with a little faith in humanity.

As you make your way towards Father Time (Saturn) in Sagittarius, just know that anything that fell away was meant to fall away. VoC 9:45 PM until tomorrow morning.

The Moon Void of Course (VoC) is the time period from when the Moon makes its last aspect in one sign before moving into the next sign. The Moon is the fastest-moving planet, and transitions from one sign into the next every 1-3 days. What that means is that the Moon is constantly in motion, it’s never retrograde, so it’s inevitable that she will connect with “something,” i.e. another planet or transit, until the moment that she doesn’t. During the moments when she doesn’t connect, we call it the Moon Void of Course. When these events occur, the best thing to do is to meditate, sit still, and listen to your higher guidance. Sitting still does not mean to physically sit still, although it can be beneficial.

Saturday, October 29 It’s time to pay some attention to that trine taking place between Uranus retrograde in Aries, and the Venus-Saturn conjunction in Sagittarius.

It’s almost like everything that you’ve learned would bring you comfort and stability has been turned upside down. Some of these lessons were tough pills to swallow. They stung, they made your eyes water, and made you want to curl up under the covers and sleep; yet you survived. If there isn’t a tear in your eye for the accomplishments that you’ve made, then you’re not giving yourself enough credit. VoC 6:10 AM until 9:02 PM in Scorpio.

Sunday, October 30 There’s a New Moon at 11:39 AM in Scorpio. It is snuggled up with the Sun and Mercury, creating a positive aspect to Neptune. This is one of those days when you want to stay curled up with friends, watching movies that you’ve watched a hundred times before; Goonies, Stranger Things, Ghostbusters…it doesn’t really matter, because all you really crave is a hug, and a hug is exactly what you’ll get. Pearls of Wisdom in a Pile of Manure HEALING WITH HORSES

up the mess. We have to be vulnerable, and willing to get in there and do what needs to be done. As we strip away the layers of muck and mire, more is revealed. Our old habits, beliefs, and patterns are brought back for us to deal with, or bury again. It makes us feel overwhelmed, and not in control. We literally feel like crap! (Sorry about the “poo” metaphor but it fits so well!)

At the same time, we can choose to shed everything, and clean it up as it’s revealed. We can choose to be seen. When a horse sees us, they see us for who we really are; covered in muck and sawdust, trying to hide our insecurities, and not doing a good job of it. They know when our lives are turned upside down, and we’re trying to put on a brave face for the world, yet they don’t buy it. To a horse this is a lie. They can react to this incongruence just as prey would react to a predator; freeze, flee, or fight. However, if we acknowledge what we’re really feeling, and let ourselves be seen, we become congruent, and they will react differently, sometimes demonstrating great compassion. To truly be seen, we have to not only let others see us as we are, we have to see ourselves, and in the greatest act of compassion there is, we have to accept ourselves.

he word vulnerable has a new meaning for me lately. As we grow up and watch our children and family grow up, it changes who we are; things can go wrong and not as planned. People make choices we don’t understand. As we come to terms with life’s events, we’re forced to look inward and make sense of the circumstances and events. We’re required to question our own actions and motives. It’s uncomfortable. It’s like standing in a pile of manure; it stinks! When we’re knee-deep in the muck, we’re forced to make a choice. We can either stand there ignoring the smell and pretending it isn’t there, disassociating and disconnecting; or, we can choose to look down, acknowledge that it’s uncomfortable, it stinks, makes our eyes water, and it takes action to step out of it. We can then make the choice to clean it up and start over with a clean stall. It takes work to clean

In my life I’ve hidden from the world, because I felt like I was never good enough. I felt like a fraud, or that I really didn’t know what I was doing. I could stand up in front of a crowd and speak with confidence, then melt in a heap of insecurity once it was over. I could teach a yoga class, trying to be calm and collected, when thoughts of being a bigger size would make me want to run out and crawl under the desk. I’d also feel guilty for trying to fool people into believing I was confident, yet I could never fool a horse.

I’ve found over the last few years that I’ve stayed away from connecting with some of the horses I work with, because I didn’t want to allow them to see me. They, in turn wouldn’t connect with me either. It’s human nature to try to fool ourselves into thinking, “If only things were different, I’d be different.” Try as we might, being in a different pile of manure is still being in a pile of manure. The muck is still there. We can try to change our environment, or our circumstances, like losing weight, moving to a new city, changing schools or jobs; yet the muck just moves with us, expanding the more we try to ignore it. It takes putting yourself out there, and letting the

horse and the world see you for who you really are, muck and all, for things to change. Nothing changes unless we do.

It’s become very clear that I’ve been standing in that pile of manure for a long time, as it’s deep and it stinks! It’s time for me to step out of it, and strip that stall so I can start over. You’ll notice less stock photos, and more real-life pictures this month. I’m stripping away the muck, and putting myself out there, so I can create better relationships, and be ok with the uncomfortable feeling of vulnerability. Today I stand in the arena with a horse, and let them see me as I’m letting you see me, muck and all. I am yogi strong, and open-hearted. This is me today, and I begin to accept and love myself as I am. I challenge you to do the same. Take an honest look at the manure around you, and start digging. Let yourself be seen for who you are, and be empowered. As in the joke told long ago, “you have to dig deep into the manure, because where there’s a pile of manure, there must be a pony in here somewhere.”

Anna Anthony: Rodrigo, how do you define shamanism?

Rodrigo Duque: There’s this Hollywood version of what Shamanism is. It’s a crazy person with feathers all over the place, a necklace made of bones, and a lot of bracelets, holding magical bundles. They go into trance states, then do something special for you. I don’t come from that line of Shamans.

The bulk of it is in my roots. My mother was a healer. There are many people who maybe take part in a ceremony, a class, or travel to South America, and they’re suddenly a shaman. In Shamanism, at least from my perspective, the connections to higher states are already there. You do not need to go into a trance to go to these places. When you’re working with people the connection is already there. There is a dialogue from this place with the higher self of the person, and they decide what needs to be done, which gets communicated with work. I do not go crazy; and my eyes do not turn around in my head. I’m just a regular guy. When you lay down on the table and I start working on you, you will feel the energy through my hands. The energy comes in huge waves.

AA: How do you become a vegan at six years old? How did this come about for you?

RD: I learned very young that the meat I was eating came from the animals.

This did not sit well with me. My brothers would give me a hard time, yet fortunately, my mom was understanding. We would occasionally visit family in the country, and they would prepare a very nice meal, and of course there was always meat. I would dread this part of the trip! Many people saw my attitude towards not eating meat as arrogant. When I began practicing yoga, many instructors suggested not eating meat, which was very easy for me as I had done this already from a young age.

AA: When did you first experience a calling to do shamanic work?

RD: When I was a child my nickname was “Little Doctor.” I loved that nickname, and it made me feel special. Thanks to my brothers, I was able to read and write from a very early age, which allowed me to enter school at the age of five, as opposed to the age of six, which was when you started school in my community. At the age of 13, I became a yoga practitioner.

Back then yoga wasn’t popular as a fitness trend. I began studying astrology and martial arts. At that point in my life I had not set a path. I ended up following in the path of my brothers, and studying electronics. I started at (the) university, then I eventually came to the U.S. and completed my engineering degree with a focus on electronics. I started working in the

RD: I had a very similar situation. My wife and I were having lunch in the city, and there was a crystal store next door that we walked through. The deck had just come out. I believe it was 1989. I never went back to my old deck either. What I love is the positive messages that the animals give you.

AA: Many people feel guilty when it comes to investing in themselves from a spiritual & metaphysical perspective. What advice would you give regarding this?

RD: Society has taught us that financial success equals happiness. When you invest in a class or event that will provide financial gain in the future this is justifiable. However, when you invest in something that will truly add to fulfillment of your soul, then you feel guilty. Investing in your happiness and your healing process is very important! We need a revolution!

What we’re doing to our minds is terrible!

AA: What’s the biggest message that you want to spread to the world right now?

RD: If there’s one message that I’d like to get out there, it’s that we humans have the capacity to heal ourselves, as long as we retake the power into our own hands. We’ve given our power to doctors, vitamins, supplements, and anything but ourselves. We’re more powerful than we think.

electronics engineering field, however the other part of me did not remain dormant. I received an interesting phone call one day from a Chief Luciano Perez of the Lakota Sioux Indian Nation. He said, “Listen, I am supposed to work with you, so we need to meet.” He extended to me an invitation to attend the Sun Dance. This is one of the most sacred ceremonies for the Lakota. I became a Sun Dancer as well as a Pipe Carrier, which is an individual who carries a pipe, and is able to perform public ceremonies.

The “certificate” for lack of better terms in this tradition is an eagle feather.

I’ve received quite a few eagle feathers. This is not recognized by the U.S. Government as I am not 100% native.

AA: Healing Arts Metaphysical Center offers many unique classes. What are some of your favorites to teach?

RD: First I must clarify that what I teach is not from books. My teachings come from my experience. Some students prefer classes where they receive reference materials. I don’t provide this because this information didn’t come from books. “Sacred Geometry” is very special to me. The story of how this came about would require an entire conversation in itself.

“Awakening the Healer” is a class that I created after becoming aware of what reiki was doing for people. Reiki is a very beneficial practice. I usually start the class by stating that they’ve learned half of the truth. Now we’ll learn the other half. It’s taught on a level that even students with no reiki background can benefit. Students go thru a similar attunement with focus on the shamanic way, even though this is not a shamanic class. The “White Witchery” class has caused many conflicts with its name. If I could put another title on it, I’d call it “female shamanism.”

AA: I know your “Animal Tarot” class as well as readings have been a favorite from day one! This is how I was introduced to your location. I fell in love with this deck one day, walking by your store in Batavia, and never went back to my traditional tarot deck. Spirit Cloud Connections CYBERWEAVE SPIRITUALITY AND THE INTERNET By Mary Montgomery

In my July column, I asked the question, “Why are we so relieved when tragic things can be tied to a physical abnormality, and not just a mental one?” I also promised to explore further the question, “What is a Spirit to do when the human is broken?” Well, I am still searching for answers to those questions.

In the meantime, I’m flying high in body, mind, and spirit, after just returning from a cruise to Alaska with 100 or so like-minded, soul-searching members of the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS) (noetic.org). I’m still trying to digest all of the great information and experiences that I had with them, so I’ll leave that for a future column.

I’ll focus on some special cloud connections that nourished my spirit and helped center me on my Alaska Spiritual Traveler journey. It all started with preparing for my journey. I have to thank Eddie Conner (eddieconner.com), the LA medium and author who wrote a terrific travel prep workbook entitled How to Get Your Travel Freq On!: While Engaging Your Heart, Mind and Soul. There are a lot of great exercises; the one that I resonated most with is called “Lullaby.” Eddie suggests that we create a list of three words that we can use as we fall asleep, or in a meditative state, that address how we desire our travels (and our lives) to unfold. For the Alaska trip I used: Fun, Fantastic, Fellowship, Friendships, Connections, Rest and Relaxation.

I know, that’s more than three words, yet I always say, “Go with your Soul Flow,” and that was mine.

I didn’t stop there, however. My other “lullaby” was Love, Light, Gratitude, Healing. That’s the one, I think, that kicked in over and over again, as I had many spiritual cloud connection experiences.

The first connection occurred on my flight from Chicago to Seattle. I chatted a bit with my seat mates, and was about to do what I often do during a flight; put in my earbuds and listen to some meditative tunes on my iPod. Then my vision was drawn to the puffy little clouds that floated outside my window. I stopped, and was drawn into the now moment of being, just being with the clouds, the sky, the land… The feeling of being one with the environment enveloped me, and I stayed there through much of the flight. Thank you Eddie, for helping me connect with that cloud and those moments.

The second connection occurred on my first Alaska morning. I went out on my balcony at five am. Here’s what I wrote in my journal: I welcomed my first Alaska sunrise this morning. I bundled up and stood on the balcony of our (sic) room, watching the inky black as it brightened and filled with the rose tones of first light. Then I saw her--a sky goddess, a spirit in cloudspun garments, pulling, pulling, pulling the dawn from the sky. I didn’t know then what her name was. It took a Google search for sky spirit prayers and clicking on the link to Spiral Goddess (spiralgoddess.com) to discover her name and her prayer. She is The Great Crone. Here is her prayer:

“Prayer for the Great Crone also known as Daybreak” Just before the first glimmerings of dawn, the Great Crone sweeps across the sky and clothes the dying night in Her cloak. She wraps it tenderly and gently, enfolding each star, each galaxy, each universe in Her essence.

Slowly the Great Crone draws back Her cloak revealing gold, and pink, violet and the steely blue tones of first light. She is the Crone, Mistress of Re-birth. We honor Her as “Protectress of Endings” and “Birther of New Beginnings.”

This dawn was truly a special moment. My Spiritual Traveler Guides blog has the mission of nourishing one’s spirit and soul wherever you roam. This certainly nourished mine!

I had many spiritual adventures on my Alaska cruise. The next spirit cloud encounter, however, didn’t occur until I was on the plane back to O’Hare Airport. I was embraced by the clouds of sunset as they turned a striking shade of red-orange, and streaked across the sky. I didn’t see any sky cloud beings this time. However, it got me to thinking; if there is a goddess of the dawn, then there must be a god or goddess spirit of the sunset.

Of course, I did an Internet search on that. This is what I discovered; that there are many gods and goddesses, both for the dawn, and the sunset.

Each culture has its own deities. I decided to end this month’s column with a Native American prayer translated by the Lakota Chief Yellow Lark in 1887, which I found at: worldprayers.org.

Oh, Great Spirit, whose voice I hear in the winds and whose breath gives life to all the world, hear me.

I am small and weak.

I need your strength and wisdom.

Let me walk in beauty and make my eyes ever behold the red and purple sunset.

Make my hands respect the things you have made and my ears sharp to hear your voice.

Make me wise so that I may understand the things you have taught my people.

Let me learn the lessons you have hidden in every leaf and rock.

I seek strength, not to be superior to my brother, but to fight my greatest enemy - myself.

Make me always ready to come to you with clean hands and straight eyes, so when life fades, as the fading sunset, my spirit will come to you without shame.

My Advice: My hope is that you’ve enjoyed my cloud wandering so much that you will do some cloud connecting of your own. Let your body, mind, soul, and spirit connect with sky and its cloud garments. We often think of clouds as that which obscures our vision, yet with the right “now moment” mindset, it’s the clouds that can set us free.

Adult Coloring Is All the Rage~ Could the Healing Power of Art Be What’s Fueling This Trend?

Adult coloring books are all the rage! It appears not only is everyone doing it, everyone is writing about it too. Seriously, everyone from the New Yorker to Forbes Magazine to The Washington Post is writing about it. This is not just a little trend here folks. Nielsen Bookscan estimates that some 12 million adult coloring books were sold in 2015, a dramatic jump from the mere million sold the previous year.

WHY, you may be asking? (I know I was!) The message on the street is that it’s relaxing. Many liken coloring to yoga or meditation. Think of it this way, Coloring in a book doesn’t require artistic training to get started, yet it offers a great sense of accomplishment when finishing a piece. Fueling it is the fact that most of us multitask all day long. When it’s time to relax at the end of the day many of us feel guilty for sitting down and “just” watching TV. So we text, we knit, we paint our nails, we scroll through Facebook, and now apparently we color too. God forbid we’d say it’s okay to be lazy when we’re trying to relax! Most importantly of all, coloring gets us out of the digital world and into reality … you gotta admit we need more of that.

It also appears there’s a big social aspect to this coloring trend that many new fans find appealing. A recent search of the social media world found that when you put the #coloring hashtag into Instagram over a million posts come up. There are numerous Adult Coloring Facebook groups as well, some with as many as 40,000 plus members. Seems people all over the world are sharing their finished pieces of art on social media sites like Instagram, Pinterest and Twitter … and many are doing it (coloring, that is) in social settings like Coloring Clubs, meeting in both homes and coffee shops alike. Face it, coloring is a fun way to get together and do something that engages a little bit of your creative side, but allows you to talk, hang out, drink coffee … or maybe have a glass of wine, or two!

So smile, put your feet up, pour yourself a glass of wine and color yourself into a healthier state of being.

But what’s really fueling this trend? It’s this simple. Art, in and of itself, is a healing tool. The impact of the arts in the process of healing was recognized early on by Hippocrates, who understood the importance of uplifting his patients’ spirits. Over the past 15 years, there has been a dramatic growth in the use of the arts in medicine. In fact, renowned institutions such as Duke University Medical Center and Dartmouth Medical School are doing research on the subject of art as a healing tool. These recent scientific studies show us that art heals by changing both a person’s physiology and their emotional attitude. [1] The question that begs asking is how? It could be as simple as one word … Epigenetics. One of the leading experts in this burgeoning field is Dr. Bruce Lipton. His research tells us that genes and DNA do not control our biology; that instead, DNA is controlled by signals from outside the cell, in the environment surrounding it, including energetic messages emanating from our positive and negative thoughts, emotions and beliefs.

According to the organization Art As A Healing Force, when a person experiences art, “The body’s physiology changes from one of stress to one of deep relaxation, from one of fear to one of creativity and inspiration.

Neurophysiologists have shown that art, prayer and healing all come from the same source in the body, they all are associated with similar brainwave patterns and mind-body changes, and they all are deeply connected in feeling and meaning. Art, prayer, and healing all take us into our inner world, the world of imagery and emotion, of visions and feelings.”

Coloring brings one into the present moment. There is nothing else that matters except the joy of this experience. It takes our cares away. It puts our fears on hold, and for that moment in time nothing else matters.

Those feelings take us out of the limiting beliefs of the subconscious, into our conscious mind of pure potentiality, where anything is possible. This is the emotional state from which healing can begin.

Art as a healing tool is no little trend either. Hospitals all over the world are incorporating music and art into patient care. Doctors, nurses, and

As leaves begin their crimson cascade, and the air turns crisp with the promise of a changing season, the garden begins its transition as well. Consider the following tips and activities to glean the most from the autumn garden.

“Seeds” of the Future Even though gardeners may resist the call for planting, fall is the ideal time to plant flowering bulbs for a dazzling splash of springtime color. The first pop of spring crocuses, daffodils, irises, hyacinths, lilies, or tulips will brighten any winter weary spirit. To plant, purchase bulbs at a local garden store, then follow package directions for planting depth and spacing. Bulbs must be planted before the ground freezes. In Chicagoland, the average date is October 15th.

For gardeners with hungry squirrels, splash hot sauce on bulbs before planting. The strong scent and flavor will deter determined visitors from eating tasty spring bulbs. If planting more than a few bulbs, you will need a large bottle of hot sauce. Place bulbs in a large bowl, cover with hot sauce, then plant. Always wear gloves and never touch your eyes, face or skin when using this hot sauce method.

Plant naturalizing daffodils to deter deer from nibbling on springtime blooms. Daffodils contain a bitter substance called lycorine that deer will not eat. These colorful, care-free bulbs grow in both sun and shade, and their numbers will multiply on their own throughout the years.

IMPORTANT NOTE: lycorine is EXTREMELY TOXIC to cats, dogs, and horses, and somewhat toxic to humans!

TIPS FOR THE VEGETABLE GARDEN: -Plant garlic by October 10th for a strong crop next summer. To plant, break up an organic head of garlic into cloves, push the cloves into the soil 3-4 inches deep, pointed end up. Space the cloves 6-8 inches apart. Cover

with 3-5 inches of organic soil, mulch, leaves, straw, or hay to provide for extra protection during the winter.

-Continue to add fresh flavors to recipes by transferring garden herbs like rosemary, parsley, chives, and oregano from the ground into pots. Place pots in an indoor location with strong natural light.

-To close down the garden: Remove harvested vegetable plants, then place them in the compost pile.

Cover finished garden plot with 4-6 inches of mulch consisting of any matter that decays or rots including; cardboard, hay or straw, leaves, grass clippings, pine needles, or newspaper. Water the mulch to hold it in place. In the spring, add another 4-6 inches of homemade mulch, then plant vegetables directly through the mulch into the ground. This deep mulch method will suppress future weeds and provide an easy-to-dig surface.

FLAVORS OF NOW Explore the following simple ways to capture the freshness of the garden: -Harvest last kale, Swiss chard, broccoli, cauliflower or other cool season vegetables to create a delicious, quick main dish. Saute sliced apples, kale, herbs, and other fresh garden produce in olive oil for 2-3 minutes. Serve with cooked quinoa, brown rice, or thin spaghetti.

-Save pumpkin seeds after carving to create a savory roasted pumpkin seed snack. Rinse seeds in colander, place them in a single layer on a cookie sheet, bake for 20 minutes at 300 degrees. Toss seeds in a bowl with olive oil or melted butter, and salt, and return to oven for another 20 minutes until crisp.

With leaves turning and temperatures dropping, take advantage of these final, spectacular days of autumn to enjoy more time in the garden.

HOW TO CONNECT WITH ANGELS WHILE LIVING A CRAZY LIFE By: Christine Alexandria

Angels have been with us since the beginning of time and are always assisting humanity in global as well as personal situations. They are ever joyful, loving, wise and at times rather pushy in helping you to live your dreams for that is their purpose; helping you to embrace life. Their answers are as varied as are the people of the earth. The answers may come as a feeling, knowing or literally hearing them speak. These types of responses will offer a sense of expansion and joy while using words beyond your normal vocabulary and vernacular. This is a great confirmation that your answers are from them and you are not making ‘this crap up’.

Another favorite way for the angels to answer you is through feathers.

Many clients and customers will see a white feather falling from the sky and often find them in the most obscure places. What a gift from the angels!

Numbers are another lovely way the angels respond to your questions.

The number ‘four’ has long been associated to the angelic realm.

Therefore, when you see the time, 4:44, take the rest of that moment and focus on gratitude. The essence of gratitude will raise your awareness to all that is being presented to you allowing you to receive all.

These are but a few of the many ways angels relay their messages. To be able to readily receive them is a lesson in becoming more aware of your surroundings which enables you to be present with life, embrace all that is offered and of course listen to more actively. It is in the stillness of the heart that horizons begin to open. Remember, angels ARE ever present in your world. You simply must ask and be still to be inspired.

Greetings dear ones, I am Kryon of Magnetic Service. In the scheme of things, you are reaching the pinnacle of what we would call the decision point for humanity. In order for you to see this in the light that I see it, you’ll have to understand two things. First, going back a short time you will remember that in my first communications to you, I told you that Human consciousness was changing. I brought you information from the very beginning of my attributes on the planet, that humanity was in shift and that I had arrived for a special purpose and that was to shift the magnetics of the grid. I told you that the Kryon group itself would finish that in the year 2002 and would leave, and it did. All of this was in response to what you had accomplished as humanity, and some of you have done the mathematics and realized that all of this was well within the precession of the equinoxes - a 36-year window where your sun aligns to the middle of the galaxy - the beginning and the end of the 26,000year wobble of the planet.

This astronomical attribute also esoterically [metaphysically] aligns with what the ancients said it would - a decision point for humanity that would be the most important one of all, one that carries with it tremendous energetic purpose. This is why I arrived, and if you look at my first communications, you will see why I arrived, for something was happening with humans, and it had to do with your future. Twenty-two years ago I told you this, and by 1993 you had the publication [Kryon Book One].

Now, here you are in 2012 all these years later, with exactly what we said you would have. We gave you potentials back there; some of them became the potentials of humanity and some of them did not. We deal only with potentials, but the strongest ones talked about your future today.

Secondly, I want you to remember that when you came into this planet, each one of you was unique. It doesn’t matter how old you are as you sit here, every one of you is an old soul. The old souls are the ones who tend to tune in and listen and read a message such as this, and we have said that before as well. So what we have is a unique group, and I want you to remember the spark of truth when you arrived, all of you. Fresh within the quantumness that locks itself to your memory, ringing in your ears when you arrived as the baby: “This is the lifetime that will make the difference.”

events so that you can figure it out. Some of you have even said, “Ah, The Bridge of Swords: That must be the time where there’s going to be battles on the planet. It’s the Armageddon, and it’s here.” I’ll tell you, dear one, that the Armageddon is happening on some other earth, in some other time! You can write that prophecy off as something that is not going to happen to you.

I’ll say this again, dear Human Being: Do not look at past prophecy and apply it to anything that is going on here. Past prophecy had you dead at the millennium, did you remember that? Yet you’re here in 2012! You’ve moved on to the current prophecy of the ancients, of the indigenous of the planet who saw a melding together of north and south - the prophecy of the feathered serpent and the prophecy of the condor and the eagle.

This is a movement of energy on the planet in a way no “modern day” prophet ever predicted. Instead, it came from the indigenous, for they saw the potentials of some time fractals that spoke of humanity passing the fifth decision point and moving into the next part of what we call the Great Shift of Human Consciousness.

What’s going to happen next? The Bridge of Swords. So let us analyze it.

Let us tell you what we had in mind when we gave you the phrase and we ask you not to build upon this anything that is not said here. Do not then project more than what is given. Do not try to figure out hidden meanings within what is given, for I’m going to give them all to you now.

The Bridge It’s very straightforward. It’s a bridge, so let’s look at that first. What is the bridge doing and why must there be one? Well, congratulations dear ones, because a decision point is not always a bridge. Sometimes it’s a chasm, a chasm that humanity would fall into so they would have to start all over.

Or perhaps a decision point that has no bridge at all, which means everything stays the same. There would be no change, and you’d have more of what you had - a future that’s nowhere and had never been written. But that’s not what’s happening at all.

There are some of you who have even asked the question, “Why am I alive?” You know who you are. When there was darkness all around you, caused by circumstances and situations, some of them health, we were there. I’ll tell you why you are here. You’re here to complete this task that you started so many years ago, old soul! This is the decision point and, from my standpoint, it has already been passed.

Oh, this has been written so many times, but it’s not in your old scripture, dear ones. You’re going to have new writings long after my partner is gone. Oh he’ll be back, but long after this particular lifetime there will be new scriptures written by ones you will see as the prophets of the day.

They will talk about what is next on the planet and they will see the change in Human nature. They will see that which is leaning toward the quantumization of corporeal humanity - the beginning of what happened to the Pleiadians so long ago will happen here as you cross the bridge.

There is no test in front of you, since you’ve already passed it. In your timeline, there are 18 more years of it [the precession]. So at the end of this year, the 2012 marker at that solstice point, it is simply only that - a celebration point in 3D time. This is where you celebrate having made it.

And I suffice it to say right now that those who created this enlightened place called Earth know you did it. There are already celebrations in the skies and yet there are things happening on the planet that we told you would happen, and there are those who are worried.

But that’s the far future. What about now? The bridge you are crossing is the one between old paradigms of existence and new ones. Eventually all humanity will cross it, but this is so new at the moment that the only ones truly crossing it are very old souls, for they are the only ones that see it and have the Akash ready for it. But you should know this: This bridge is for all, and as you cross this bridge, metaphorically, others will follow you.

They’ll cross it and not even know it. They’re crossing into belief of a new kind of reality.

The Bridge of Swords, Revealed I want to give you what I’m going to call, “The Bridge of Swords revealed.”

Here is a phrase we have given you many times in the past. We told you that in the end - that is to say, the end of the old paradigm of the planet [now] - you would have The Bridge of Swords.

Dropping the old paradigms of what to expect is next. Accepting new paradigms of a future without war is next. Looking at civilization differently than you were ever told it could be, is next. Dropping old fears that so many have had for so long about what to expect is next. That’s the bridge.

It’s a beautiful thing. The fact that there’s a bridge at all is a beautiful thing.

Let me tell you some potentials about the future, immediate future. This is not what is going to happen in generations from now, but rather right now. The Bridge of Swords is here. Some of you have extrapolated this information into a form that you then compare to the ancient prophecies in the Holy Scriptures, trying your best to have a confluence of dates and

The bridge has been created over a long period of time. Synchronistically we did not know a bridge would occur until 30 years ago. That’s how new this energy is. Humanity has free choice and there was no strong potential then if the confluence of energy would have created the momentum to create a bridge or not. But a small potential was there.

By the 1987 Harmonic Convergence, we knew the bridge was being built.

By 1989, the super structure was in place. By 1993, the bridge was there.

Then you started to see the fall of the Soviet Union, the coming together of former European enemies into an economic alliance. The idea that you could put together things instead of tearing them apart was new. Dictators began to fall, and the bridge was in place, and most of humanity didn’t even notice since it happened so slowly. But you felt the shift coming, didn’t you? That’s what the bridge is all about.

What have we told you about the bridge? Actually, not much except that in crossing the bridge, the old energy ones were not going to like it. Old energy does not want you to escape! Old energy doesn’t want you to cross the bridge because it can’t cross. Did you know that? It can’t cross.

The old paradigms of Human nature that you’ve known all of these millenniums have to stay on the old side of the bridge. It cannot cross, for the bridge rejects all that is not in love, compassion and light. Those things that are dark, including Human nature of the past, will not be able to go.

But the ones I speak to right now are already on the bridge. That was your design, old soul, and those are the words that are ringing in your ears to this day and the ones given at the wind of birth, that this might happen in your lifetime. So what’s going to happen next?

Swords Let us talk about the swords: When you hear the word sword, the first thing that occurs to you is battle. The Bridge of Swords is a battle and we told you that as well. Swords are metaphoric and they mean many things, so let us describe the things we mean them to say to you.

Number one: They are indeed a weapon in a battle. There is a battle coming. “Kryon, does that mean there’s going to be a war?” Potentially, yes.

Right now we will tell you that the Middle East cooks itself. You’ve noticed, haven’t you? What do you know about the Middle East, dear one? Let’s start examining things for a moment. What energy did you grow up in? What was the energy of the Middle East? In the ‘40s, what was the energy? With the establishment of the state of Israel, you built a wall of hate, both sides. The wall was so thick that the children of both sides were taught to hate one another as soon as they were able to understand the language. They were told who their enemies were. Now, where were you then?

Some of you weren’t here yet. By the time you arrived, in your youth, were you aware of the Middle East? Not particularly. “What’s the hatred about?” you might ask. What if I told you it’s about a family feud? Two sons of a Jewish master are involved. One founded the Arabs and one remained a Jew. They don’t want to hear this, but they are all Jews. (Don’t tell them this.)

If you look at the lineage, it’s pretty obvious and yet it’s a complete and total set-up for either solution or war. The set-up would have this world ending in a conflagration that would have been brought about by this hatred. That’s in the prophecy of Nostradamus and your scripture, but it is no longer the prophecy of the planet. Yet the hatred still exists. The hatred is as great today as it was then, but where was all the terrorism 40 years ago? It was isolated.

Those in Israel and Palestine and surrounding areas took the brunt of it, but now it’s seemingly everywhere - and you’re worried. Why would this be? The answer is that the old energy was happy to have this hatred contained, for it would keep it going and never involve outsiders. Outsiders tend to bring unwanted light to the party. Suddenly, the whole earth is involved and can see the entire scenario before them. The old guard wants war, just like all the eons before them. The ones on the bridge are holding the light and showing the earth how to cross. Even many younger ones in Israel and Palestine and Iran are holding light! It’s all around the old guard and they are furious, for they are losing the “battle of hatred.”

Will there be a war? What is going on? You can feel it cooking, can’t you?

Some of you don’t want to look at the news, for you’re afraid of what tomorrow will bring. It’s not even the end of the year yet! Will there be a battle?

Let me tell you, dear ones, right now as we speak to you there is the potential of a small war in the Middle East. You have been told that if there is any war at all in the Middle East, the whole world will join in, and you will not make it. I will tell you that that is an old paradigm, for if and when it happens, watch carefully who decides not to come to the war party. For there’s a new consciousness brewing on this planet and I will tell you this: In all fairness, as we see the potentials before you in your future, it’s not going to matter one way or another to the bridge if there is a battle or not.

What’s eventually going to happen in Iran is going to be the same no matter what, and I will tell you why - because there is nobody to take the place of the old guard. They’re not growing any, young ones! It’s all the ancient ones with the hatred who are moving the chess pieces as though they are representing the whole of the nation, but they are not. There will come a time, perhaps one that is actually exacerbated by a war, that will create the revolution in that country. Overwhelmingly, they don’t want war.

Ask an Israeli if they want still another war. They will say no, but they are afraid that their enemies will bring one to them. Who are their enemies and what is changing, dear ones? You think you know what’s going on in Syria and Egypt and Libya? You think you do? Let me tell you there’s a recalibration going on there of what they believe and who their enemies are. It’s about what they want from their government. Let me tell you what all of them want eventually, and you may not see it for 20 years, but they want schools and hospitals. They want what you have in your stores, and they want the freedom to worship their prophet without a small group telling them the rules of how they should. They want to honor Muhammad in their own way and see the love of God in him as was designed by him. That’s what’s going on. That’s the battle. The problem is that the old energy will fight this, for it will lose control if they get what they want.

There’s a paradigm shift at hand and you’re going to see it over there first, and it may not be pretty, so I want you to hang tight. Don’t pull out what Nostradamus said at the last minute and say, “He was right.” Nothing he said has manifested since 1987. Don’t suddenly grasp the scriptures of Revelations and draw out all of those words that haven’t been true for 30 years. Nothing has happened as they said it would. The only thing that rings true there is that there are still problems in the Middle East.

All of those prophecy quatrains have fallen on the floor and didn’t come true. The timing is not right for them to happen now. Take a look. Oh, there are still those who say, “It’s happening, it’s happening, it’s happening!”

For they are invested in fear and control. Some of them actually want it to happen, and they believe the culmination will be in the rapture of going home to God. I want to tell you, dear ones, you’re all going home! But home is across the bridge to an earth without war. That’s the bridge. Old energy dies hard.

What else does a sword mean?

The sword is a symbol, a metaphoric symbol for truth. A Bridge of Swords is a bridge of truth. Sometimes you cross swords above you in celebration, do you understand this? That’s how we see it. Will there be a rough road ahead for the bridge? Yes, but you knew that when you showed up on the planet, dear one, and it doesn’t have to mean a world war, and it won’t.

There are those who are settling the very issues of whether they should continue to hate or not in the Middle East right now. They don’t trust

each other, but they also don’t want to continue the way it has been.

There are dictators who are leaving or who have already gone, replaced by leaders who will eventually temper and soften their positions to their neighbors. It’s because they realize what they want is schools and hospitals and roads and safety for their children. Is that too hard for you to imagine?

marriage, is it not? So let us give you, finally, the symbol of the marriage on the bridge. It has so many meanings! It’s the marriage of what used to be with what can be, it’s the marriage of compassion and the Human spirit, it’s the marriage of your soul entity on the planet with your creative seeds (the Pleiadians), it’s the marriage of you and you! It’s the coming together of the north and south. It’s beautiful. It’s The Bridge of Swords.

The media rushes to the horror and tells you that they are all consumed with killing each other. I would like to ask you to interview them. Don’t interview the ones that you see on the news, but rather the mothers and the fathers who you don’t see on the news who have the same faith as the ones you do see in the news. They will tell you, “Give us peace; leave us alone; let us grow in our way in our own culture. We don’t want to make bombs. We want to have compassion.” This is the bridge. It may get worse before it gets better and we have told you that many times. But that’s why you’re here.

Perhaps you’re here this day or listening or reading and this is all new to you and you’ll say, “I don’t know if I’m an old soul or not. Am I part of this crossing? Am I going across the bridge?” Let me say this to you: Don’t analyze this! I’ll give you a fact. If you’re listening right now (or reading), then you’re part of it! It’s the only thing that has brought you to the page, to the chair, to listen or read or know. If you’re interested, then you’re part of it. It may take some of you to suspend belief on how it works, but you’re part of it! I’ll say this again: Don’t over-analyze it. Many will awaken and follow. The bridge will be there as long as you live.

Slowly the few who make the hate will be seen as a few. The many will have their views known and will replace the few.

What are you suppose to do? Just be, old soul. Go to work and show the light there. Show that you have compassion for those around you. Go home to your family that perhaps doesn’t believe this, and don’t judge them. Instead, show your compassion to them because you have a piece of God inside you. Think of what the masters would do right now. They’re not standing here in judgment, they’re celebrating your life! No matter who is in front of you, celebrate their lives! Be the example of a compassionate God and of the divine seeds that are in you, and that will shape your future. Do not be afraid.

What you do next is so important. What will it be? Are you going to fear it, or have compassion for it, understand it, and stand up tall and move forward across the bridge? Are you going to cower in a corner and worry when you see what you expected? Old energy dies hard. The sword of truth is active and well, and the truth will prevail in the light.

What other truth could there be that you’re recognizing? What about the truth of the way things work in a compassionate earth, one where you can’t have the kind of non-integrity issues that you’re having now?

Businesses will change, governments will change, and banking will change.

Are you shocked at this? Some day you’re going to know that you actually have changed the way things used to be in the darkest corners of the planet. It’s not what anyone expected, and you’ll realize that you made a difference.

I’m in Canada and I know it, but I will tell those listening and reading in the American audience the following: Get ready! Because there are some institutions that are yet to fall, ones that don’t have integrity and that could never be helped with a bail out. Again, we tell you the biggest one is big pharma, and we told you that before. It’s inevitable. If not now, then in a decade. It’s inevitable and they will fight to stay alive and they will not be crossing the bridge. For on the other side of the bridge is a new way, not just for medicine but for care. Paradigms that have not yet been thought of, which don’t represent any system that currently exists, will be created and developed by young minds who have concepts that the seniors don’t know about. Things that don’t have integrity today will fall over tomorrow. Just get ready. It’s all part of what’s on the other side of the bridge. And the old energy won’t like it, and they will object.

There will be new ways to create electricity, new ways to clean the water, new ways to feed yourself. It’s all there across the bridge in the future. It lies there just waiting for you to cross. Don’t be afraid. Lightworker, this is what you waited for and this is the future that you wanted. It’s why you were born and alive now. It doesn’t matter how old you are, senior. Don’t count the years you think you have left; don’t go there, just don’t do it. I want you to see your life as we do - all the lifetimes you’ve ever lived with the energy of what you’ve created on the planet right now, in your hand, for this is the way Spirit sees you. Your footprint on the earth is enormous and what you are doing now as you cross the bridge is enormous. Only the old souls with the wisdom of accumulated lifetimes can move that bridge and cross it quickly.

What the media gives you next, what happens next in the Middle East, what happens in these next years, will all be part of the old energy reaction. Darkness can’t cross the bridge and they are going to die because of it. And I don’t mean Humans. I mean the energy itself of hate will be dead and eventually gone. This is the promise and I speak to those now who have complete and free choice to change it, but I tell you, you won’t because the push is too great. The ball has already started to roll.

For 20 years, you’ve seen it coming. You have a right for peace on the earth. It is a time that you have planned on. There is precedent at hand, for the Pleiadians did it, those from Orion did it, the Octurians did it. The parents of the parents of the parents of the planetary systems that you’re in did it. Now you’re doing it. A long process is ahead of you until the last vestige of old energy is gone. I will say it again: There will come a time when you look back on today and you’ll say, “How barbaric humanity was!”

And that’s what we see, old soul, this day.

That’s what we see.

And so it is.

“Toner is My Friend” If I was stranded on a deserted island and had to choose only one skin care product, it would definitely be toner! I never realized the importance of toner until I became an Esthetician.

EVERYTHING! In my opinion, it’s the most important part of a skin care routine. If you’re not using it, you and your skin are certainly missing out.

Using toner on a daily basis has several great benefits.

My mother always shopped at the big department stores and spent a lot of money on the latest anti-aging creams and fixes. I would listen to the woman behind the counter give my mother the latest pitch for whatever “miracle cream” they were trying to sell that month. I laughed when I saw my first bottle of toner. I always saw toner as just another advertising gimmick and a waste of money – a means for the woman behind the counter to make another sale. What could a product that looked like water in a fancy spray bottle actually do for my skin?

• Toner is an excellent hydrator. Lightly mist it on the skin before applying your moisturizer. This will allow your cream or lotion pull in moisture and hydrate your skin. Hydrated skin plumps up and smooths out the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Hydrated skin is healthy skin.

• Toner is a balancer. It returns your skin to its healthy pH range, after cleansing and throughout the day. The skin’s pH is the most important aspect of skin care, especially if you suffer from acne.

If your skin is constantly fighting to balance itself, it affects its appearance, texture and CRF (cell renewal factor). It’s all about balance!

• Toner removes residual makeup and any soap residue left behind after cleansing, leaving your skin fresh. You would be surprised at how much dirt and grime is left on your skin after cleansing with soap.

• Toner increases the spreading capabilities of other products, decreasing the amounts you actually use, which saves you money.

• Lightly mist toner on your face after you’ve applied your makeup. It will help blend your foundation, concealer and blush, leaving your skin with a nice healthy, hydrated glow.

All in all, toner is a wonderful product that is missing in most of my clients’ skin care routines. Once you try it, you will find it hard to live without.

When shopping for toner, READ THE INGREDIENTS CAREFULLY. The first four or five ingredients listed are the most important. Toners that contain organic aloe as the first ingredient would be winners on my list.

Look for organic ingredients, and natural fruits and fruit acids. Don’t use toners that contain ANY isopropyl alcohol. This will dry and irritate your skin.
