Key

Positive attitude may be the single most important factor affecting both personal and career success. Positive attitude has been identified as the number one personal attribute that employers are looking for when they hire new employees. In addition, employees identify positive attitude as the number one characteristic they would like to have in co-workers. This workshop will help participants better understand the five major characteristics of positive attitude. The workshop is both inspirational and research based. Participants will leave feeling positive about their own careers while gaining tips for helping clients to be more successful.

Session Title

Abstract

Vocational-Occupational Counselling Of Seniors in Argentina

Room

Duration

Willow 1

90 min.

Key

The mind set regarding reaching maturity has suffered a great transformation over the years. From being deeply respected, older people are excluded socially as well as from the employment market. They are abandoned — much as nomadic groups used to do with their elderly — in nursing homes so that the younger generations can maintain their own way of life. In this work we start with the limitations encountered by seniors in Argentina. Many of their health complaints are psychosomatic — due to their lack of hope and confidence regarding what the future holds for them. Due to space and time limitations, we have restricted our work to persons 60 years old and up. The challenge for counselling, in relation to inter-generational projects, is rooted in achieving a change in personal and social vision that leads to a better vocational-occupational identity construction.
