eign Wars Post No. 7963, 284 Main St. in Eynon, will host a children’s Halloween party on Saturday, Oct. 29, noon to 2 p.m., featuring activities, snacks and prizes. Other sponsors include John Niedzinsky American Legion Post No. 624, the Eynon Fire Department and Ambrose Revels American Legion Post No. 328. • “Trunk or Treat” has become a popular alternative to kids going door to door. Instead, parents gather in one location, decorate their cars and trunks and hand out treats. One such event will be held Saturday, Oct. 29, at 1 p.m. at the Wargo-Monsignor Hrynuck-Beckage Sports Complex on East Grant Street in Olyphant. Mid-valley-area kids are invited to attend in costume. To register your car, call 570-780-4446, 570351-8452 or 570-507-3804. Only registered, decorated vehicles will be allowed on the field. Cars can begin arriving at 11 a.m. There will also be child fingerprinting, hot dogs and hot chocolate at the Eureka Volunteer Fire Co. across the street from the park. There will be a prize for bestdecorated trunk/vehicle. • The Borough of Archbald is sponsoring its annual Halloween “Spooktacular” March to be held on Saturday, Oct. 29, 3 to 5 p.m. (rain or shine) at Archbald A.C. Field, 99 Export Lane. Kids 12 and younger (accompanied by an adult) are invited, dressed in their Halloween outfits. The Valley View fifth-grade chorus will be in attendance to sing Halloween songs from 3 to 3:30 p.m. There will be a costume parade, a basket/bicycle raffle, free food, games, prizes and treat bags for all.

• The Forest City Area Historical Society will present “Halloween at the Museum” at the FCA Historical Society Museum, Main and Dundaff streets, Saturday Oct. 29, at 6:30 p.m., beginning with a costume contest (cash prizes will be awarded) and followed by a showing of the animated 2012 comedy film “Hotel Transylvania” (rated PG). Admission is free and there will be free popcorn at this all-ages event. • Griffin Pond Animal Shelter will hold its annual Snoopy’s Fallfest and Great Pumpkin Pet Costume Pageant on Sunday, Oct. 30, 12:30 to 3 p.m. at Roba’s Family Farms, 230 Decker Road in North Abington Township. The event is normally held on the grounds of the shelter, but construction there has caused a relocation this year. Registration for the pet costume pageant will be 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Judging begins at 1:45 p.m. Awards will be announced around 3 p.m. Prizes will be awarded. The pageant entry fee is $5 for an individual; $10 for groups of two or more. Admission to the farm is $14.95. All proceeds from the costume pageant will benefit Griffin Pond Animal Shelter. In addition, Roba’s will be donating a per-

centage of the day’s farm admissions to the shelter. Farms hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. • The Mayfield Lions Club will hold its annual Halloween costume parade on Sunday, Oct. 30. Participants (in costume) should begin gathering at noon at the Lions building on Penn Avenue and Walnut Street. Door prize tickets for pumpkins will be available at that time. The parade will begin at 1 p.m. and proceed down Penn Avenue, across Poplar Street and up Lackawanna Avenue to the Community Park where “best costume” prizes will be awarded, pumpkin winners will be selected and candy bags distributed. The Lakeland High School Band will provide music for the parade and at the park. • Dickson City Primitive Methodist Church, Lincoln and Jackson streets, will hold a Halloween party on Monday, Oct. 31, 5 to 8 p.m. Refreshments will be served. All children are welcome.
