garbage burning a menace We are around 65 families living in Arattukulam Lake point Tower apartment situated on the side of Begur lake, part of Begur, ward no. 192. For the last 8 months BBMP trucks and other private parties have been dumping waste near an abandoned quarry, 200 meters away from our apartment. On an average we have around 10 - 12 trucks of waste being dumped per day. After we complained about it, they’ve started burning the garbage, which again is illegal. Additionally when it rains, the garbage starts decomposing and it creates a lot of stench in that area. We residents are really getting worried since it is affecting our health.
We have filed a petition with the BBMP Joint Officer in Begur and AEE and the Health Department at Bomanahalli in December 2010. We were told that BBMP has forwarded the petition to the Police Department (Electronic City) as of 16/12/2010. However we are yet to see any action from the police in stopping this menace. ⊕
