It is housed in the Samuel D. King residence, an 1831 Greek Revival-style home. The museum is known for its displays of glassware, links to the factory’s past and a museum shop that sells reproductions and some Heisey originals.

NEWARK EARTHWORKS

Heath, Ohio 43056 (740) 345-8224 (800) 589-8224 www.ohiohistory.org The National Historic Landmark is a place where visitors can explore 2,000-year-old geometric earthworks that served as both cathedral and astronomical observatories for the Hopewell culture. Owned by the Ohio Historical Society, the Newark Earthworks State Memorial includes the Great Circle Earthworks, which is 1,200 feet in diameter, the Octagon Earthworks, consisting of a circular enclosure of 20 acres connected by parallel walls to an enormous octagon of 50 acres; and the Wright Earthworks, where a 50 foot earthen wall is all that’s left of what was once a gigantic square. Access differs to each of the earthwork sites. The Great Circle site is operated by and home of the Greater Licking County Visitors Bureau.

THE RIDGE MUSEUM

The exhibits demonstrate how these people lived, their artifacts and the tools they used. Admission is free.

ROBBINS-HUNTER MUSEUM

The architectural designs of Minard Lafever and Asher Benjamin are part of the fabric of the building. Added to over the years, it now has 27 rooms, 14 are open to the public. The interior contains displays of 18th and 19th century American and European furniture, decorative arts, paintings, sculptures, carpets, silver, china, and lighting.
