Few cities can make the claim that convention delegates stepping out the front door of their hotels are at the front door of everything else downtown. Chattanooga can, thanks to the free shuttle system that connects all of our convention hotels with the Chattanooga Convention Center, the shopping district, restaurants, the riverfront and every block in between. What’s more, the shuttle is electric, so it moves people through downtown with zero emissions. No noise. No exhaust. The shuttle is Chattanooga’s method of getting people moved efficiently through the central business district with the Tennessee Aquarium anchoring one end and the Chattanooga Choo Choo at the other. The Downtown Shuttle runs about every five minutes seven days a week. CARTA is now servicing the NorthShore with the addition of the free NorthShore Shuttle, also operated with electric vehicles. The NorthShore Shuttle connects with the Downtown Shuttle in the plaza at Shuttle Park North and takes visitors across the Market Street Bridge to the historic NorthShore district, where they can enjoy fine dining, shopping and galleries. The NorthShore Shuttle runs about every fifteen minutes, Monday through Saturday. Now in its seventeenth year of operation, CARTA continues to receive inquiries about their fleet of electric vehicles from interested city officials from across the world.
