Sunflower and by-products SUNFLOWER has found an ideal place for its germination and growth in the natural soil of Bolivia only a few decades ago. In the low tropical regions such as in the Department of Santa Cruz, where the soil, air and temperature conditions are appropriate for the cultivation of this marvelous plant, the SUNFLOWER is harvested to then be exported as a cake, as crude or refined oil or simply as a seed of the best and purest kind. Bolivian SUNFLOWER seeds are a fountain of fat and energy as well as of carbohydrates and proteins. SUNFLOWER is a typically oleaginous plant which plays an important role in human diets as well as animal fodder. It contains up to 58% of oil in its fruit and can be used for the production of bio diesel. Bolivia exports SUNFLOWER and its by-products to countries such as Venezuela, Columbia, Chile, Ecuador, Peru, Brazil, Pakistan, Argentina, Dominican Republic, Paraguay and Spain.
