“The day it was announced that Kwame Kwei-Armah was going to take the helm of our theater and move from London to Baltimore, we all knew what you didn’t yet: Kwame is someone you simply have to know. His spirit, his thoughtfulness, his humanity…he’s infectious! So, I called my amazing and talented friend, photographer Dean Alexander, and told him the plan I had to introduce Kwame to Baltimore. I then called some powerful friends and asked them if they wanted to be a part of this plan. What Dean created and captured is the true essence of our new Artistic Director. With each photo shoot that Dean graciously donated, there was a collective sigh… ‘Welcome, Kwame!’ (Some of these people would have added x’s and o’s behind that sigh!)”
