What does the program include? It takes a lot to organize an overseas work adventure, including applying for a J-1 visa. As a US Department of State designated J-1 visa sponsor, CCUSA has the expertise needed to help make your summer camp experience a success!

Starting at £200, our program fees are affordable and straightforward. There are no hidden fees! Your meals and accommodation are provided by your camp (during your contracted work period), so you get to save your hard earned cash for post-camp travel!

J1 Visa

CCUSA is an official designated sponsor of the J-1 visa and will help you every step of the way with the visa process! We will issue the documentation that you require to apply for your J-1 visa and will assist you through the visa application process. The visa is valid for up to 4 months of work (only at a US based summer camp) plus an additional 30 days of travel in the USA once you have successfully completed your camp contract.

Annual Camp Job Fairs

CCUSA hosts annual job fairs in Ireland and the UK. Camp Directors from the USA will be on-hand to meet, interview and hire candidates to work at their camp this summer! Visit our website for more information on this year’s camp fairs!

Your US Government SEVIS tracking fee (US$35) is included with the program and not charged to you (this is not the case with all US camp programs!)

Flights to the USA

CCUSA is the only camp program in the UK to offer the most affordable and flexible flight options to suit your budget and preferences. You can either opt for CCUSA to book your return international flight to camp from the UK OR you can book your own international flights! We also help arrange your domestic/ground transport in the US from your arrival airport to camp.

CCUSA provides you with comprehensive medical insurance for the duration of your camp contract. If you wish to extend your insurance to cover your post-camp travel period, you can do this easily before or after you have arrived in the USA!

CCUSA prepares you for camp and your travels before you leave the UK at this fun and informative meeting. It’s a fantastic opportunity to meet all the other like-minded participants heading to camp. You might even find a travel buddy! (*Meetings held at various locations around the UK & Ireland.) Pre-Paid Debit card, Discounts on Trek America & Intrepid tours and an Ekit SIM card are just a few of the extras you can expect to receive as part of your program package!


Types of Camps Finding you the perfect placement at a camp is based on several factors: 1. Your dates of availability 2. The skills you have to offer 3. Experience you have working with children 4. The type(s) of camps you are interested in working at We have eight different types of camps that we work with, but remember, every camp is unique! You will need to select a minimum of 4 camp types on your CCUSA application. They are: 1. Traditional Camps 2. Specialist Camps 3. Girl Scout Camps 4. Camps for Underprivileged Children 5. Religious Camps 6. Camps for persons with Special Requirements 7. Camps for persons with Special Needs 8. Day Camps * No previous experience working with any special population (ie- Girl Scouts, Special Needs) is required. Training will be provided by ALL camps before campers arrive.

Most camps begin in late May/early June and run through mid/end of August. You will need to be available for a period of 8 or 9 weeks (beginning no later than June 20th) so CCUSA may secure you a camp placement. If you have any questions about dates of availability, don’t hesitate to contact us!

What experience do I need to join the program? CCUSA is looking for enthusiastic, outgoing individuals who have skills they can teach (or assist in teaching) to children at camp. There are countless activities offered at different camps. Some of the main categories are: • Certification or degree that • Outdoor Education • Fitness • Arts & Crafts relates to children. • Performing Arts • General Counselor • Athletics/Sports • Ropes/Climbing • Gymnastics • Circus • Target Sports • Horse Riding/Farm Animals • Digital Media • Water Sports • Outdoor Adventure • Extreme Sports To find a full list of skills that we recruit for visit www.ccusa.co.uk. When completing your online application form make sure to provide as much detail about your skill(s) as possible, including how long you have been participating in it, if you hold qualifications, what elements you could show/teach/lead, etc. We look for people who have experience with children, but you don’t need a certification or to be a qualified instructor, you just need to feel confident in your own skill level and ability. If you want to strengthen your skills and application further, CCUSA can direct you to websites and organisations that run courses in your area.

CCUSA has been hosting camp job fairs in the UK and Ireland for over 15 years. Each January, camp directors from the US make the trip ‘across the pond’ to come meet and hire talented international staff ‘face-to-face’ at these events. Information on all the camps who will be attending, along with their profiles and positions they are hiring for, will be posted on our website at www.ccusa.co.uk by December. Make sure to apply early so that you can attend one of these great events!

What is the cost of the program? There is an application fee of £45. Once you have been accepted to the program (after your interview), you will have the chance to select which Flight Option you prefer: CCUSA Flight Option - £464 OR Own Flight Option - £260 *Note- Save up to £85 off your total program fees if you pay early! See our website for more details. Apart from the fees you pay to CCUSA, there are some third-party fees you will need to consider: 1. J-1 Visa fee (paid directly to US Embassy) - $160 (correct at the time of print) 2. Criminal Background Check fee - £45 3. Medical Check fee (varies by GP) 4. Flight costs (if you select the ‘Own Flight Option’)

How do I apply? 1. Visit www.ccusa.co.uk, select your country (England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland), your prefered program (Camp Counselors USA) and begin your online application. 2. Complete the Electronic Program Agreement; this is your agreement with CCUSA (found with the online application). 3. Upload a smiling profile picture. 4. Pay the application fee online. Once we have received this and your completed online application, we will contact you to set up a face-to-face interview with one of our representatives based in your local area! 5. You will need to provide three references (one must be on the official CCUSA Reference Questionnaire form) 6. You will need to upload a 1 min (or less) introduction video of yourself. This should tell a camp ‘who’ you are and why they should hire you! Make sure your personality shines through! 7. Provide a Criminal Background Check (if you have a previous criminal record, this may affect your chances of acceptance to the program and ability to obtain a J-1 visa).
