Assistant Coach / First Season

Jonelle Streed enters her first season as an assistant coach for Western Carolina University. She is the recruiting coordinator for the Catamounts, will work with guard development, serve as academic and compliance liaison and assist in scouting reports. Streed comes to Catamount basketball after spending one season at Miami University where her coaching responsibilities included working with the forwards, assisting with recruiting and coordinating team travel. Prior to Streed’s stint at Miami she spent four seasons with the Arizona Wildcats. Two of her four years with Arizona were spent as the program’s graduate assistant video Streed Notes coordinator, before transitioning into an assistant coach position for the Wildcats. While at Education: St. Cloud State, 2003, BS Mass Communication/Minor in coaching Arizona, Streed was responsible for perimeter player development, recruiting, scouting and University of Arizona, 2006, MS Educational Psychology was the Camp Director for JB Hoop Camp. Coaching Experience • Stanford, Intern (2003-04) Before her time in Tucson, Streed spent the 2003-04 season as an intern with the • Arizona, GA/Assistant Coach (2004-08) Stanford Cardinal where she helped with film breakdown, organized film exchange and • Miami University, Assistant Coach (2008-09) assisted with numerous clinics and camps. • Western Carolina, Assistant Coach (2009-present) A native of Cambridge, Minn., Streed played collegiate basketball at St. Cloud State from 2000-03, where she played in every game over her four-year career and set a school record for three-pointers (87). During her senior campaign, Streed was voted team captain and team MVP. In her final game, she posted a career-high 32 points on a career-best seven three-pointers. Off the court, Streed graduated magna cum laude from St. Cloud State in 2003 with a bachelor’s degree in mass communications and a minor in coaching. She earned a master’s degree in educational psychology with a physical education emphasis from the University of Arizona in 2006, also graduating magna cum laude. In high school, Streed was a Minnesota Miss Basketball Finalist and set the Cambridge-Isanti High School record for career points with 1,799.
