APPENDIX C Methods: The Rockbridge Area MAPP Focus Group guidelines were based on World Health Organization’s guidelines (www.who.int/entity/.../surveys/FocusGroups-Mod-Guide-final.pdf) and modified with input from the MAPP Focus Group Work Group received on January 23, 2012. Focus groups were conducted by one of three facilitators, all members of the MAPP Core Team:  Deborah Bundy-Carpenter, RN  Melissa Mederios  Laura Simpson, RN Assistance was provided by four Washington and Lee students. IRB approval of the methods was obtained from Washington and Lee University. Target Population’s Definition of Health: At the beginning of the focus group discussions, participants were asked to brainstorm on the meaning of “health.” The words of the participants, categorized by theme, are presented below. The Project Manager sorted the responses into four themes that emerged: external resources, mental status, physical status, and internal resources.
