FORCES OF CHANGE ASSESSMENT The Forces of Change Assessment was conducted by the Rockbridge Area Free Clinic, Carilion Stonewall Jackson Hospital, the Central Shenandoah Health District, and members of the Rockbridge Area MAPP Steering Committee. The session took place at Carilion Stonewall Jackson Hospital on March 12, 2012. The purpose of the Forces of Change Assessment is to identify what is occurring or might occur that affects the health of the community and local public health system. The discussion focused on the forces impacting the Rockbridge area community including Rockbridge County and the cities of Lexington and Buena Vista. A total of 26 individuals attended. Individuals were representative of various social service agencies, non-profit organizations, local governments, educational systems, law enforcement, and other public health system agencies. A full list of attendees can be found in Forces of Change Report (see Appendix E). Participants were asked to consider the following questions:   

What are the opportunities and threats or challenges that could affect you and your organization? What external factors beyond your control affect your organization’s ability to fulfill its mission? What is happening in your work that you would like to share?
