Supplies for academic courses (general school supplies such as notebooks and pens, $20 limit). Medical treatment not paid for by your insurance coverage (premiums for optional medical insurance, hearing aids, visions therapy, psychological counseling). Sports Medicine will approve or disapprove all “medical” receipts. Please do not assume everything is covered. Vision expenses will have a limit based on the NCAA allocation of funds. Please ask in the athletic office before buying glasses or contacts. Travel/other costs due to family emergencies. Written descriptions must accompany all receipts turned in for emergencies. Sports Wagering & Gambling The NCAA prohibits student-athletes, coaches and all athletic staff member from wagering on college or professional athletic events that its sponsors, regardless of whether Canisius actually sponsors the sport. This prohibition includes any sports wagering activities or providing information to individuals involved in or associated with wagering activities concerning intercollegiate, amateur of professional athletics competition. The following are examples of impermissible sports wagering activities: • • • • • •

Entering a pool in your dorm, at work, or any other location; Placing a bet on the internet on a college or professional sports event; Entering online pools (including Facebook and ESPN); Participating in fantasy leagues that require and entry fee or offer any type of winnings; Purposely affecting the outcome of a game or contest in which you are involved; and Providing information about your team, teammates or other student-­‐athletes to anyone who places bets on college or professional sports.

Engaging in sports wagering activities can threaten your eligibility and potentially rendered you permanently ineligible to participate in intercollegiate athletics. For more information, please contact the Compliance Office or visit www.dontbetonit.org.
