If you feel like you’ve been
“knee-deep” in water all summer, it’s no wonder. We have had an extraordinary amount of rainfall since mid-May. In Camrose, the official recorded amount of precipitation, from May 1st to August 29th, is 414.2 mm (16.78 inches). Contrast this to 244.8 mm (9.63 inches) during the same time period in 2015. However, the current year’s rainfall amount is low compared to areas including Edberg, Ferintosh, Bittern Lake, Round Hill and Kingman, and other spots in the trading area where, unofficially, an additional 10 inches or 250 mm of rain has poured down this growing season. Most people are ready for a moisture reprieve – but especially our farm friends who are now anxious to get on their land and commence or continue harvesting operations.
