High School -- Walsh was a two-way starter as a wide receiver and safety in his senior season under head coach Scott Orloff at Trabuco Hills High School ... a team captain, Walsh recorded 39 tackles (26 solo), two interceptions, a fumble recovery and six pass breakups, leading the Mustangs to a 4-6 overall record ... on offense, Walsh caught 32 passes for 463 yards and three touchdowns while also rushing eight times for 41 yards ... earned firstteam All-South Coast League and All-Orange County honors and was a top-10 receiver in the league in receptions and the top 25 on defense ... a 4.46 sprinter in the 40, Walsh turned down an offer from Kansas and also was recruited by North Dakota and South Dakota State, deciding to be a Mustang in his college career because “Cal Poly is a great university with an outstanding nationwide reputation. Community College -- Wangara was named to the AllNorthern California Football Association first team after recording 35 total tackles (19 solo), including 4.0 tackles for lost yardage and three sacks as a sophomore at College of San Mateo ... also notched three pass breakups and a quarterback hurry ... earned the team’s Bulldog Award for leading by example in the classroom, weight room and football field ... helped Bulldogs to an 8-3 record and the Bulldog Bowl championship with a 62-24 victory over Diablo Valley College ...
