entin batısından doğuya, Gümrük İskelesi'ne doğru bakış. Kartpostalın ön yüzündeki Osmanlıca yazıda “Mersin: İki ay yattığım evin görüntüsü” yazılı. Tarih ise 2 Eylül 1928'i işaret ediyor. Kartpostalda Atatürk Caddesi'nin güneyindeki yapılar görülüyor.
perspective from the west side of the city to east, towards Custom Pier: on the front of the postcard, it is written “Mersin: The image of the house I slept in for two months” in Ottoman. And it is dated 2nd of September 1928. The buildings on the south of Ataturk Street are seen on the postcard.

alen Mersin Büyükşehir Belediye binası olarak kullanılmakta olan iki katlı taş yapıdan doğuya doğru bakıldığında, Ulu Cami yapılmadan önce yıkılan çifte şerefeli Yeni Cami ve Gümrük İskelesi görülüyor. Kartpostalın solunda ise on dokuzuncu yüzyılın son çeyreğinden itibaren Mersin ticaretinde ve liman etkinliğinde önemli bir yer edinmiş Fransız denizyolu şirketi Messageries Maritimes'ın binası ve bu binanın güneyinden denize uzanan “Tuz İskelesi”nin izleri görülüyor.

ümrük Meydanı ile Tuz İskelesi arasında kalan sahil şeridinde bugün İnönü Bulvarı ve Atatürk Parkı bulunuyor. Tuz İskelesi ile Gümrük Meydanı arasında kalan, çok katlı yapılaşmanın gerçekleştiği alan günümüzde Mersin Ticaret ve Sanayi Odası'nın da bulunduğu kentin merkezi konumunda.

s looked towards east from the two storey stone building that is today still used as Mersin Metropolitan Municipality, New Mosque with its two minaret balconies before demolished and replaced by Grand Mosque (Ulu Cami) and Custom Pier are seen. On the left hand side of the postcard, the building of Messageries Maritimes called French maritime lines company, a company of big importance in the Mersin business trade and port activities since the last quarter of nineteenth century is seen. The traces of “Salt Pier” reaching out to the sea through the south of Messageries Maritimes are seen on the postcard.

n the coast line between Custom Square and Salt Pier, today there are Inonu Boulevard and Ataturk Park. This area between Salt Pier and Custom Square, where multiple-storey development is realized, where also Mersin Chamber of Commerce and Industry exists is, today, in the position of the city center.
