This marks the first year of membership in the Mountain West for the Broncos after spending the last 10 seasons in the Western Athletic Conference. This year’s schedule includes 15 nonconference games and a 14-game double-round-robin conference schedule. Boise State will also be featured in five televised games on the Mountain West Sports Network (The MTN). Three of the contests will be home games versus Syracuse University on Nov. 29, Colorado State University on Jan. 17 and the U.S. Air Force Academy on Feb. 11. Boise State’s road games at Colorado State on Feb. 14 and at TCU on Feb. 18 are the final two regular-season broadcasts for the Broncos. Boise State’s 29-game slate includes a record 17 contests at home, in addition to a home exhibition game against Western Oregon University to open the season on Nov. 5. Boise State will play 10 of its 15 nonconference contests in the friendly confines of Taco Bell Arena where the Broncos are 244-125 (.661) all-time. Highlighting the non-league schedule is a four-game stretch where they will play teams that participated in last year’s WNIT. It begins with a home game against Pepperdine University out of the West Coast Conference on Nov. 20, followed by a trip on Nov. 23 to former WAC rival Utah State University in the first game of a home-and-home series during the season. The Aggies will return the trip to Boise on Dec. 22. The third game will have UC Riverside from the Big West Conference travel to Boise on Nov. 27. Tuesday, Nov. 29, that will be televised on The MTN. This will mark only the third meeting all-time for the Broncos (1-1) against the Big East, the first meeting versus Syracuse and the first time Boise State has hosted a Big East team. Last year the Orange went 24-10 overall, 9-7 in league to place tied for seventh in the 16-team conference, followed by a march to the WNIT quarterfinals. Other nonconference games include another home-and-home series with a former WAC rival in New Mexico State University and a host of games versus regional competition. The rest of the home nonconference games not already mentioned include match-ups with Southern Oregon University, Weber State University, Seattle University, Montana Tech University, and Utah Valley University. Non-league road games include the annual intra-state rivalry game with Idaho State University, as well as contests at Utah State, New Mexico State, Eastern Washington University and the University of Portland. There will not be an easy game in conference as the Mountain West routinely sends 3-5 teams to postseason tournaments. Boise State’s first Mountain West campaign will open at home against traditional league power the University of New Mexico on Jan. 11. Other home dates against the conference are Colorado State on Jan. 17, TCU on Jan. 21, San Diego State University on Feb. 1, Air Force on Feb. 11, UNLV on Feb. 22 and the home final on Feb. 25 against the University of Wyoming. The regular season will end on the road at San Diego State on Wednesday, Feb. 29. The Mountain West Championship Tournament is held annually in Las Vegas, Nev. at UNLV. This year’s dates are March 7-9, all tournament games will be televised on The MTN.
