For Annelise and Patrick, New Year’s Eve will never be the same. The couple had decided to go to the coast with friends, and to go to dinner out there. Unfortunately the other couple could not get a babysitter so Annelise and Patrick ended up going alone. Little
did Annelise know what Patrick had planned for that night. The couple went to dinner at the Crow’s Nest in Santa Cruz. After dinner Patrick “went to the bathroom,” really going out to the car to get his phone to document the proposal. When he walked back to the table, he pulled the chair aside and got down on one knee. He barely got out the words, “we have had a hard 8 months...” before
starting to cry. Annelise was not sure what to do because he was holding the ring up.
