Alumni Awards for Achievement & Merit

Top of the Line

The 2012 Alumni Award for Achievement and Merit recipients are distinguished educators, public servants, and patriots.

T

he director of the state’s largest environmental policy and regulatory agency, a successful insurance executive, a Texas school superintendent, the Provost Marshal of the 39th Brigade Combat Team of the Arkansas National Guard, and a retired administrative law judge have been selected to receive the 2012 Alumni Awards for Achievement and Merit from the University of Arkansas at Monticello. Teresa Marks, director of the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality; M. L. Mann, retired general manager for The Hartford Insurance Group; Jody Clements, superintendent of the Kilgore, Texas School District; Lieutenant Colonel Tommie Brasfield of the Arkansas National Guard, and Judge Eugene Mazzanti, will be honored at Homecoming. Also honored will be Monticello businessman Dr. W. J. McKiever, who

will receive the Continuing the Connection Award, presented annually to the alumnus who best keeps alive the connection between UAM and Arkansas A&M, UAM’s name before joining the University of Arkansas System in 1971. The awards will be presented during the annual “Alumni Awards Dinner” for Arkansas A&M / UAM alumni on Friday, October 12 at 7 p.m. in the John F. Gibson University Center. Tickets for the event are $15 and may be purchased by contacting the Office of Advancement at (870) 460-1028. “This is a distinguished group and each has earned the right to be honored by the university,” said Chancellor Jack Lassiter. “We are honoring individuals who have excelled in business, education, public service and the military and we are pleased to be able to recognize their achievements.”
