Technical Studies The Associate of Applied Science degree in Technical Studies with a specialization in Mechatronics is designed to provide the technical skills and knowledge needed for people who seek employment or professional development in a manufacturing environment. The knowledge and skills needed for success as an industrial maintenance technician include a combination of drafting, trade mathematics, basic electronics, robotics, instrumentation, mechanical system concepts, basic controls, and troubleshooting experiences. The curriculum is structured so that students do not need previous electrical or electronics knowledge. Full-time students may complete the Associate of Applied Science degree in two years; part-time students determine their own pace. Students may be eligible to receive credit for some courses in these curricula through the College’s advanced standing process. Examples include credit by examination or credit received through an articulation agreement.
