The Boulder Phil is one of 200 American orchestras participating in a national effort to support in�school music education.

We're taking community� specific action to improve access to music education in schools through concerts, partnerships and advocacy.

Access to arts education is vital for our youth, helping them to fulfill their potential and develop valuable cross�disciplinary life skills.

NEW THIS YEAR! Boulder Phil chamber musicians are visiting schools to present a special program before the Discovery Concert.

Wow, that’s a really big mute!


The Discovery Concert brings the excitement of live orchestral music to students as they begin their own instrumental study at school.



Students attend an interactive 50�minute performance during the school day designed to enrich their core music curriculum.


Discovery Concerts often feature a young soloist or composer to inspire students’ own musical studies


Each year, the Discovery Concert explores a different theme and makes cross�disciplinary links that correlate with students’ other classroom subjects.


Students write poems and create artwork that is inspired by listening to the music




Interpretive student artwork is often featured onstage

This year’s concert theme is “Tears, Cheers and Fears” which explores how music can express a wide range of emotions.



Teachers and students tell us that the Discovery Concert is “the best field trip of the year!�
