Best wishes, mum! Dear readers, welcome to our Mother’s Day special issue. Mothers’s Day will be celebrated on May 12th 2013 in many countries (check your local calendar – just to be sure...). Sunday is a perfect day for a family gathering. In this issue you will find some ideas for DIY gifts as we believe that mothers will appreciate handmade gifts more than those bought ones. And because there is no party without something sweet, we have a recipe for you... However, the most important thing on this special day is to be together with your mum and all the people she loves and thank her for everything she did and still does for us every single day. Mothers definitely deserve something special! Happy Mother’s Day!

flowers Say it with

There is no more expressive gift then flowers. May it be a rich bouquet, a few humble blossoms in a vase or a potted flower or even a paper one – it always says more than a thousand words. Be inspired by these ideas and give your mum the flower, which will please her the most.

You can make an extraordinary and luxury bouquet using some feathers. Choose feathers in colors matching those of the flowers, or choose a contrasting color for an even more dramatic efect.

How to do it You will need: • a piece of ribbon (about 50 cm depending on the book size, you will need more for an extra large or thick book) • hair rubber band in matching color • fabric like satin or organza (needs to be 100% polyester) • a bead • felt flower (we have used ready made one, but you can cut yours from the felt) • thread • needle • scissors • candle Instruction: 1. From the satin or organza cut out 3 circles – each a little bit smaller than the previous one. On each quart of the circles cut aproximately 1 cm deep into the fabric. Place the circles near a candle to seal the fabric and make it a little bit wavy. 2. Sew all the 3 circles together draping it a little bit. Sew the felt flower and the bead to the flower and one end of the ribbon to the reverse side in the same step. 3. Turn the second end of the ribbon around the rubber band and sew it firmly.

Breakfast

to the bed Make something special for your mother. She will be surprised when you wake her up with breakfast to the bed served on a tray made by yourself. Prepare the food your mother likes the most and don‘t forget to bring a book too, so that mum can stay in bed and lounge for a while...

We have used a crate in which strawberries are sold to make the tray. We have colored it with white acrylic paint and decorated it with a bow. The inside of the tray was layed out with a decorative paper and the same paper was used to decorate the small vase.
