Housing Options at Wichita State University
From the traditional residence hall experience to apartments with a view, campus living at Wichita State is anything but one size fits all. WSU makes finding your ideal “home away from home” as easy as possible by offering housing options to meet diverse needs. Plus, as a campus resident, you’ll not only have a place to study, sleep and socialize— —you’ll have all the resources of Wichita State right at your doorstep. Simply put, WSU campus living is comfort, convenience and community all rolled into one. Fairmount Café can satisfy almost any craving by serving exhibition-style cooking, sack lunches and late-night dining five nights a week. Name: Kelcee McCune Major: pre-dental hygiene Hometown: Plainville, KS Residence: Brennan Hall Moving to campus was one of the smartest decisions I've ever made at college. I am able to connect with others my own age on a daily basis, and not just in the class setting. The opportunities in the dorms are endless if you are looking for something to do. I feel like I’m a part of WSU. Name: Cree Enna Major: sociology and integrated marketing communication Here’s a breakdown of our housing options: Fairmount Towers Fairmount is the largest of WSU’s residence halls and mostly home to Shocker freshmen. Rooms are designed “suite style” with every two rooms sharing a private bath. There’s also laundry, kitchen and computer facilities——and a TV/study lounge on each floor. There are floors for fine arts and health professions majors, an honors floor and a quiet floor. Hometown: Kansas City, MO You can’t get the full college experience unless you live on campus. Students who live on campus are more involved. Some of my best friends are people I met in the residence halls. It feels like my home away from home rather than just a dorm. Name: Orlando R. Edwards Jr. Major: psychology Hometown: Wichita Residence: Fairmount Towers Living on campus makes it so convenient to walk to class, the gym and all the campus events. I also appreciate the diversity and how easy it is to meet new people——campus living is a life-changing experience. Wheatshocker Apartments Brennan Hall Open to all students, Brennan is a tight-knit community of just over 100 residents and features all the comforts of home: laundry, TV lounges, computer lab and kitchen. Students can choose between “standard” rooms, or if they need more space, they can upgrade to “large.” All rooms are built “suite style” with two rooms sharing a private bathroom. For Shockers who are 21 years and older (or if you’re married and/or have children), Wheatshocker is a six story, on-campus apartment building boasting golf course views and all the comforts of home. Apartment options range from one bedroom to two, with every two rooms sharing a private kitchen and bath. In addition, residents have access to a study lounge, computer lab, recreation room and laundry facilities. There’s even a market on the first floor that sells food and household essentials. Safety first At Wichita State, your safety is our top priority, and the residence halls are no exception. The buildings are locked at all times (with only residents and staff having keys) and university police patrol the area around the clock. Housing staff is available to assist visitors and residents.
