FLAT EARTH A big dumb ape with a big dumb brain. Locked in a warehouse and covered in paint. All I need is a cave or a little unabomber shack in the bush with a really good internet connection where I can hide and draw all day with ink made from toad slime and the crushed up bones of road kill. I’ll sit round with my animal friends and together we’ll plot the overthrow of human civilisation. The golden age. It’ll be cold, but the warehouse where I paint is freezing anyway so it won’t be that different. Last winter it was snowing on the roof, and I had a ski jacket and sleeping bag and I would sit there with my feet on the heater and the paper was so cold I had to try not to touch it when I drew. In a cave near where I grew up, they found the bones of some old dinosaur, but it wasn’t like a huge awesome meat-eating, death god kind of dinosaur. It was just like a biggish goanna. It’s not really that exciting but there are otherwise no goannas down here, so I guess its pretty important. People in the neighbourhood seem to be more impressed by the fact there used to be a golf course there and now there isn’t because they built houses on it. Big woop. The biggest dinosaurs had brains the size of the walnuts, which I guess means they were pretty dumb but at the same time they probably didn’t spend hours procrastinating on the internet when they could be out eating conifers and crushing mammals under their giant feet. All my big old monkey brain does is keep me awake at night.
