News & Notes The BIG Picture Georgetown earned its fourth NCAA bid in program history and the third in as many seasons. The Hoyas reached the reached the second round of the NCAA Championship. The squad was ranked in both the AP and ESPN/USA Today Polls for the entire year, starting the preseason ranked No. 10 on the AP Poll and No. 11 on the ESPN/USA Today Poll. The Hoyas tied for fourth in league play, falling in the BIG EAST Championship quarterfinals.

The Hoyas have two returning starters: seniors Sugar Rodgers and Sydney Wilson. Rodgers was named an All-American Honorable Mention by both the AP and WBCA. Rodgers led the team

Senior Sugar Rodgers enters her senior season having scored 1,805 career points, 78 shy of the school record (Kris Witfill, ’93). The guard set the school’s single-season scoring record as a sophomore (653) and needs just 196 to surpass 2,000 for her career.

Sugar Rodgers has 1,805 career points and is 78 points away from breaking the program’s all-time scoring record as well as just 195 points from 2,000. She already holds the record for points in a season with 653 in 2010-11. Wilson led the team last season with 24 blocks.

Who’s Gone Georgetown lost three starters in Tia Magee, Rubylee Wright and Adria Crawford. The Hoyas also lost Taylor Brown, who started 12 games and played in 31. Magee was second on the team last season, averaging 11.1 ppg. Magee and Crawford led the team on the boards, each averaging 6.0 rpg. Wright, who served as the team’s point guard, dished out a team-high 139 assists. Wright started all 32 games last season.

Storylines Former Georgetown head coach Terri WilliamsFlournoy was named the head coach at Auburn University on April 2. She was replaced on the sideline by Keith Brown, who had served under Williams-Flournoy as the top assistant and head of recruiting for five seasons. Brown is the seventh coach in the history of the Hoyas’ women’s basketball program. After suiting up 15 a season ago, the Hoyas will have 11 on the squad this year.
