Berkshire Boys Lacrosse Newsletter Fall 2015

Program Overview

The Berkshire lacrosse program began a new era in 2010. After winning its fourth consecutive WNESSLA Division II Championship in 2009, the Bears made the move to Division I. This change has allowed Berkshire to play against some of the best competition in New England. Since this move, Berkshire has finished as high as 5th in their 13 team league and has posted wins over teams such as Loomis, Kent, NMH, Taft, Choate, Westminster, and Trinity-Pawling. The Bears are looking forward to their 2016 campaign that begins with a return to Arizona for their annual pre-season trip.

Bears at the Next Level Captains Finalize College Plans

On Saturday November 14th, Connor Waldron and Charlie Erdmann finalized their plans to attend Holy Cross and UVM (see photo above). At the conclusion of the 2015 season, both young men were unanimously voted as captains, and they both were selected to the WNESSLA Division I All-League team. Connor served as the keystone to the Bears offense, as he tallied 45 goals and 25 assists to lead all scorers. Charlie was the Bears man at the X, where he faced off at just over 60% for the season while scooping 148 ground balls and adding 11 goals and 10 assists. Both Charlie and Connor served as captains for the Berkshire football team this fall that made a bowl game for the first time since the early 2000s.

Alumni News The 2016 season will see a number of former Bears facing off in deep-seeded rivalries at the Division III level. Joel Mayo (’15) joins Mike Allen (’13) and Mitch Andres (’14) at Dickinson, as they continue their annual battle against Gettysburg and Robbie Fiamengo (’13) and Sam Woodcock (’13). Fiamengo and Woodcock (shown on the left) helped Gettysburg to a banner season last year winning a Centennial Conference Championship and advancing to the Final Four. Matty Wieczorek (’14) of Bowdoin has the chance to duke it out with former classmate Regan Haas (’13) of Bates, as these two schools continue their Maine and NESCAC rivalry. Last year Haas (#36 shown on the left) helped Bates to a breakout season and their first ever NCAA bid.
