It is our 25th anniversary of breeding Speckle Park cattle, and a 25th year wedding anniversary with my bride Nancy. It’s been a great gig being involved with the Speckles. I sincerely have a tremendous amount of respect for our dealings with John and Dale Herbert from when we started out with the breed. John is as fair as he is tall and he was our mentor. This year we are in a new venue, on farm. We did this to allow us the ability to spend some time with our friends and buyers. We want to say a special thanks to our partners, River Hill Farm and personally to Barry and Elaine. 2 - Y E A R - OL DS In 2013/2014 we reviewed and changed our yearling bull feeding program, allowing us to maintain the bulls without punching in great amounts of grain. No doubt we could not facilitate the development program at home, so our bull calves were then sent to Scott Stock Farms Development Centre in Didsbury where they would be developed on a gentle program. Their diet was composed of wet silage, hay, and a small amount of grain/pellets. In May the bulls were brought home and pastured without any grain supplementation until November. The bulls were then on a bull ration and hay until the end of January. Now the bulls are on a maintenance diet of good quality hay and a controlled amount of 70% oats and 30% barley/grain mix. We have a very diverse selection of bulls from seven different sires. Please feel free to join us at the farm to view our sale animals.

We sold this embryo in 2012, and in 2014 had the fortune to aquire him back in a package from Nova Creek. Exporter was hurt in his first season, and so a very limited amount of semen was available. Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser at the time of sale. If the animals are not taken home by the new owner sale day, arrangements must be made with the seller on April 6, 2013 for delivery. Animals returning to the seller’s farm must be insured.
HEALTH GUARANTEES
All bulls and females are guaranteed breeders and in good breeding condition. **Each producer has the right to collect semen at their expense and the owner’s convenience on any bull sold. **All announcements made from the auctioneer’s stand take priority over printed catalogued material.
LAYNE PICKETT has worked for Codiak part time for four years. A
special way with livestock makes Layne very valuable in the treating and clipping chutes. Layne also works full time in the oil patch. If we were able to afford a full time herdsman, it would be Layne.
MARC LAPLANTE has worked part time at Codiak Acres for the past 10 years. In addition, Marc is a university student pursuing a career in veterinary medicine. Marc certainly has an impact when working with cattle or equipment and we value him greatly.
FLOYD WHITNEY
has been River Hill’s herdsman for 18 years. He is very dedicated to our farm. Though he may not have been at all the shows and sales in the past years, he has done a lot work with the animals before they come to town. We can be assured things are looked after at home when we are away.
