SUMMER EDITION 2014

In addition to our state partner presentations, the event included one panel with 4 Martin County CEO’s and another with 5 small business owners/Chamber leaders. The panel discussions were an important component of the day as it is vital to hear directly from these principals on issues facing their companies in Martin County. The event centered around the partnership between state and local economic development organizations and the importance of utilizing all of the tools available in Florida for business development. Martin County has a unique business and residential atmosphere, that in my mind, stands out amongst other areas in

the state and we capitalize on these traits to encourage smart business development. Our existing business community is our number one priority at the BDBMC and watching them expand in Martin County is critical to the local, regional and state economy. In addition to the relationship with local companies, it is also important to attract complementary new businesses to the area and assist with their relocation needs. The correct execution of business retention, expansion and recruitment programs allows Martin County to further increase tax revenue while maintaining its exceptional quality of life and business community. Thank you for your continued support of the BDBMC and feel free to contact me with any questions or comments at tim@bdbmc.org or contact the office at 772.221.1380. Sincerely, www.yesmartinfl.com

The South Florida Water Management District , in collaboration with the Office of the Governor and the Florida Legislature approved approximately $101 million to construct the treatment wetlands portion of the C-44 Reservoir and Stormwater Treatment Area (STA).

INDIANTOWN ENTERPRISE ZONE

A former citrus operation in Indiantown is set to become a 6,300 acre wetland to clean local stormwater runoff before it reaches the St. Lucie River and Estuary. Once complete, the STA will include 32 miles of berms, 30 miles of canals and 56 concrete water control structures.
