Mark Stankevitz, MSA ’12 Audit Associate, Grant Thornton, LLP “I moved to Boston after graduating from the University of Chicago in 2010, where I majored in economics. As someone without an undergraduate accounting degree, I was excited to learn that I could complete my MSA at Boston College in just one year. And because of the quality of the professors and students and reputation of the school, I knew I would graduate with a solid grasp of accounting and in a position to succeed immediately in the profession. So far, I have had a great experience working in public accounting at Grant Thornton. The hands-on classroom experience I obtained at BC gave me a leg up over other new associates as I started my career. Additionally, the career counseling I received was instrumental in guiding me through the recruiting season and helping me find the right fit. I look forward to being able to continue to grow and develop as an accounting professional, and I am grateful that the MSA Program at Boston College gave me such a great start in that endeavor.” Mark tied for highest score among all 2012 master’s exam candidates on the Massachusetts certified public accountancy exam. For his stellar performance, he was honored with the 2012 AICPA Elijah Watt Sells Award.
