Francis Bacon A COMPUTER AS ONE OF THE MAIN working tools and constantly used for calculations and algorithms. The result? The poetic, sculptural, audiovisual and installation work of Elena Asins, one of the pioneers in computer assisted art in Spain. Her career, which got under way in the sixties, can be admired at present at the Museo Centro de Arte Reina Sofía. The exhibition Elena Asins: Fragmentos de la memoria, which will remain on show at the art gallery in Madrid until 31 October, runs from her early works to some of her latest. “Perfection, order and discipline in the work, and not following fashions but your own language” are her way of doing art, she says. These concepts are precisely those that have led her to become the innovative, distinctive and admired artist that she is today. However, she puts passion before recognition: “I don’t go looking for honours but the truth in my own way of doing things”. Elena Asins talks to Babylon Magazine about her own particular way of conceiving art.

UN ORDENADOR COMO UNA DE LAS PRINCIPALES herramientas de trabajo y el empleo constante de cálculos y algoritmos. ¿El resultado? La obra poética, escultórica, pictórica, audiovisual y de instalación de Elena Asins, una de las pioneras en el arte asistido por ordenador en España. Su trayectoria, que arranca en los años 60, se puede admirar estos meses en el Museo Centro de Arte Reina Sofía. La exposición Elena Asins. Fragmentos de la memoria, que permanecerá en el museo madrileño hasta el próximo 31 de octubre, abarca desde sus primeras obras hasta sus trabajos más actuales. “La perfección, el orden, la disciplina dentro del trabajo y el no atenerte a las modas sino seguir tu propio lenguaje”, dice, son su forma de hacer arte. Estos conceptos son precisamente los que le han llevado a ser la innovadora, diferente y admirada artista que hoy es. Sin embargo, ella antepone la pasión por lo que hace a los reconocimientos: “no voy buscando honores sino la verdad en mi propio hacer”.
