Βιογραφικό — H Μαργαρίτα Δανού γεννήθηκε στη Λευκωσία το 1965. Έχει σπουδάσει Αρχιτεκτονική στην σχολή του Architectural Association στο Λονδίνο από το οποίο έλαβε το ΑΑ Diploma in Architecture το 1990. Από το 1991 ιδιωτεύει. Έχει διακριθεί σε Παγκύπριους και Ευρωπαϊκούς Διαγωνισμούς όπως στο Διαγωνισμό για το Αθλητικό Πάρκο στο Παλαιό ΓΣΟ στη Λεμεσό με την απονομή Α βραβείου και την ανάθεση της μελέτης καθώς επίσης στον Ευρωπαϊκό Διαγωνισμό EUROPAN 3 για την πόλη του of CAMPI BIZENCIO στην Ιταλία. Έχει επίσης διακριθεί με την απονομή του Κρατικού Βραβείου Αρχιτεκτονικής στην κατηγορία Αξιόλογου έργου για τον Παραλιακό Πεζόδρομο Βορόκλινης . Το έργο αυτό ήταν υποψήφιο για το Ευρωπαϊκό Βραβείο Mies Van Der Rohe και έχει δημοσιευθεί σε διεθνείς εκδόσεις όπως το ‘Τhe Phaidon Αtlas of World Contemporary architecture, την έκδοση ‘ Detail of Contemporary World Landscape Architecture ‘ και τα ‘Αρχιτεκτονικά Θέματα’.
C.V. — Margarita Danou was born in Nicosia in 1965. She studied architecture at the Architectural Association in London and received AA Diploma in Architecture in 1990. In 1991 she established her professional practice and since then she has designed a wide range of projects and was awarded several prizes in architectural competitions. Winning designs include the Εuropean Architectural Competition EUROPAN 3 for the city of CAMPI BIZENCIO in Italy and The New Athletic Park of GSO in Limassol. Her work has been published in local and international publications and periodicals including ‘The Phaidon Atlas of Contemporary world Architecture’ and ‘Details of Contemporary World Landscape Architecture’. In 2004 she was jointly awarded the Cyprus State Prize of exceptional Architectural Work for the Voroklini Coastal Promenade, with Sevina Floridou.
Αθλητικό Πάρκο στο Παλαιό ΓΣΟ στη Λεμεσό Athletic Park at the old GCO stadium in Limassol
Έργο — Ο σχεδιασμός του Αθλητικού Πάρκου στη θέση του ιστορικού σταδίου ΓΣΟ στη Λεμεσό άρχισε με τον προσδιορισμό μιας προγραμματικής πρόθεσης/ υπόθεσης, ορίζοντας ως πρώτο πρότυπο τον επαναπροσδιορισμό του χώρου ως δημόσιο αθλητικό πάρκο μέσα στον οποίο υπάρχουν διευκολύνσεις για πλατειά αθλητική ενασχόληση και ως δεύτερο, τον καθορισμό του χώρου ως απόσπασμα μιας ετήσιας γιορτής. Προτείνεται σε αυτό ένα σύμπλεγμα από ράμπες, διαδρόμους, γεφύρια και πλατώματα και δημιουργείται μια νέα δομημένη πορεία η οποία εισρέει σε διάφορες κατευθύνσεις και συνθέτει ένα πλούσιο συντακτικό κίνησης και χωρικών εμπειριών διαμέσου μιας ρευστής σε διαρρύθμιση τοπογραφίας. Η μετάσταση της πλατφόρμας ως ανυψωμένο επίπεδο νότια του πάρκου το καθιστά ως ένα νέο ορίζοντα, ενώ ταυτόχρονα διασφαλίζει τη διαμπερότητα του χώρου.
