INTRODUCTION To clean the air conditioning (a/c) system properly you must locate the evaporator, which is the part of the a/c system that actually cools the air that enters the interior of the vehicle. This is the part where condensation is most likely to form and in time bacteria, mould and fungi may start to incubate and grow. How quickly and how much grows depends on the atmospheric conditions. This will then lead to the musty, damp smell that a/c units are prone to emit. In order to clean your a/c system properly you must locate and access the evaporator. There are 2 ways to do this on most modern vehicles. METHOD A. by accessing the evaporator housing via the evaporator drainage hole which is usually located underneath the vehicle and allows condensation that forms on the evaporator and in the evaporator housing to drain away. OR METHOD B. by accessing the evaporator housing via the pollen/cabin filter access point or from another opening if there is one. If you can gain access to the evaporator housing via the pollen/cabin filter access point or from another opening then it may be more convenient to apply the Über Air purifier by using Method B.

GUIDANCE & INFORMATION Gaining access to the evaporator can be difficult on some vehicles depending on

where the evaporator is located, however on other vehicles it is straight forward. You will have to research where the evaporator is located on your vehicle. You can do this ‘on-line’ or by asking your local main dealership or a qualified mechanic. On some vehicles the pollen/ cabin filter is situated alongside the evaporator in the same housing, so this is often a good starting point. It may be helpful to search “on line” using phrases such as: “Where is the air conditioning drainage hole located?” “Where is the pollen/cabin filter located?” “How can I gain access to the evaporator on my vehicle?” “How can I gain access to the drainage hole on my vehicle?” Remember to put in accurately the exact details of your vehicle - make, model, year etc. Once you have decided which is the most suitable method for applying Über Air A/C Purifier (either A or B), you are ready to proceed. Allow about one hour to complete the a/c system clean from start to finish.

An example of what a typical evaporator looks like.

METHOD A 1. PREPARATION Locate the evaporator drainage hole for the a/c system on your vehicle. The drainage hole is usually found underneath the vehicle and allows any condensation or moisture which has formed on the evaporator or in the evaporator housing to drain away. Remove any dirt or debris from the evaporator drainage hole if it is blocked. CAN PREPARATION Shake can for 30 seconds before using. Attach short nozzle tube to the can (see Photo A). Attach flexi extension hose to nozzle tube making sure it is secure (see Photo B).

A

B

The flexi extension hose is fitted with a spray nozzle that atomises the Über Air solution for maximum surface area coverage.

2. APPLICATION

See ‘Safety First’ section 2a,b,c,d Insert the end of the extension hose into the evaporator drainage hole and slowly push it in. Manoeuvre it around a bit, making sure it is in as far as possible. Make sure the flexi extension hose is in the evaporator housing before spraying.

1. External view of the evaporator housing showing drainage pipe. Spray for approximately 20-30 seconds in to the evaporator chamber, making sure you move the extension hose around, up and down, and side to side, to ensure you give the evaporator a good soaking. This will be about half the can’s contents and enough to coat the evaporator.

2. Internal view of the evaporator housing highlighting the drainage hole.

3. Flexi extension hose being inserted into the drainage pipe.

4. Internal view of flexi extension hose inside the evaporator housing accessed via the drainage hole.

5. Shows the Über Air solution being sprayed on to the evaporator.

Remove the hose from the evaporator drainage hole and leave for 30 minutes. This will allow the solution time to kill the bacteria, mould and fungi and loosen any contamination. If you have jacked the car up make sure you lower it safely back to the ground. After 30 minutes the solution will have finished draining from the evaporator and evaporator housing. Start the vehicle and let the a/c run for 10 minutes on the coldest temperature with the vehicle’s windows open. Do not sit inside vehicle while this is taking place. Any residue that has dripped out of the evaporator drainage hole should be rinsed away with plenty of water. Please Note: See Recommendations on back page.

METHOD B

POLLEN/CABIN FILTER COVER

POLLEN/ CABIN FILTER EVAPORATOR

1. Evaporator housing with pollen/cabin filter located alongside evaporator.

1. PREPARATION

Establish that you can gain access to the evaporator via an opening. You may need to remove the pollen/ cabin filter to give you access to the evaporator. Remove any visible dirt or debris from inside the evaporator housing. CAN PREPARATION Shake can for 30 seconds before using. Attach short nozzle tube to the can (see Photo A). Attach flexi extension hose to nozzle tube making sure it is secure (see Photo B)

The flexi extension hose is fitted with a spray nozzle that atomises the Über Air solution for maximum surface area coverage.

2. APPLICATION

Insert the end of the extension hose into the evaporator housing and position it up against the evaporator. Spray for approximately 20-30 seconds moving the spray nozzle over

2. Remove cover and then remove pollen/cabin filter.

the surface of the evaporator so it is completely covered with the Über Air solution. Repeat if necessary. Ensure that you are not spraying the solution on to any exposed electrical components or exposed wiring. Ensure that any excess solution will drain away through the drainage hole and not into the vehicle’s interior. If you have to spray in an upwards direction ensure that the solution does not drip down into the interior of the vehicle. If it does, wipe it up immediately. Once you are satisfied that the evaporator has had a good soaking replace the pollen/cabin filter. Leave for 30 minutes. This will allow the solution time to kill the bacteria, mould or fungi and loosen any contamination. If necessary re-assemble any parts you have removed to gain access to the evaporator.

3. Access now gained to evaporator.

4. Directly spray Über Air A/C Purifier on to, and through the evaporator.

RECOMMENDATIONS – PLEASE READ

We recommend you clean your air conditioning or climate control system twice a year: once at the beginning of the spring/summer season and once at the end of the season (winter). This will ensure that your air conditioning system is clean throughout the year, to prevent growth of bacteria, mould and fungi when it is not in use. Most modern vehicles have a cabin/pollen filter fitted. It is a good idea to regularly replace it; this will help keep the air clean that is entering the interior of the vehicle and also help eliminate pollution/pollen. When cleaning the air conditioning system we recommend that you comply with the manufacturer’s recommendations. If you are in any doubt about how to use this product, please contact a qualified mechanic or Auto Inparts Ltd.

APPLYING ÜBER AIR DIRECTLY INTO INTERIOR AIR VENTS There is the possibility that bacteria, fungi and mould can colonise and grow inside the ventilation ducting. This is unlikely unless you experience very humid and damp conditions. If you think there is a chance that bacteria, fungi and mould could grow in this location and produce spores, then apply a very small amount of Über Air in short 1 to 2 second bursts directly into the air vents. Push the flexi extension hose into the ventilation ducting and apply. Leave for 30 minutes and then run the vehicle’s a/c system for 10 minutes at the coldest temperature. Do not sit in vehicle whilst this is taking place.

USING THE AIR FRESHENER

Once you have used the Über Air to purify your air conditioning system and waited for the correct period of time as stated, we then recommend that you use the enclosed Air Freshener to infuse the air with the pleasant smelling fragrance. This will circulate through the A/C system and around the vehicle leaving it smelling fresh and cleansed. Before using the Air Freshener please thoroughly read the instructions on the can.
