Drop it.” I drop it, lower my head and give them my saddest eyes ever. Maybe I can convince them that I was helping to carry in the groceries? Mom looks mad. She apologizes to the neighbors and walks me home by the collar. She shuts and locks the front door then shouts, “Who left the screen door open?” Guess, Dad’s busted too! n
