Program Description The sociology program at Mt. San Jacinto College is designed to benefit students pursuing bachelor’s degree preparation and careers in sociology or related social and behavioral sciences, as well as students desiring a personal understanding of interaction and social organization as it applies to everyday living. Sociology is the systematic study of the development, structure, interaction and collective behavior of organized human beings, social structure and social institutions. Sociologists examine the patterns and arrangement of societies, the processes through which they develop and change and the interplay between these patterns and processes in the behavior of individuals and institutions.

Distinctive Features The instructional process in Sociology involves a high degree of student participation through group and individual activity. In some courses, students will learn about dynamic social processes through the use of internet research, computer simulations and modeling technologies.
