Glassy glares embroidered with jester smiles, A pedestal rises for all to see, Happiness and strength run for miles, What meets the eye seems fine to me. Closed doors reveal even more, Tear‐stained pillows expose the true emotion, We see now on the inner core, Her prayers explain the hurtful commotion. A two‐way mirror reflects the correlation, Of what is real & what is mask. The inner being is under examination, With fooled souls too ignorant to even ask. The mask is thick enough to trick the closest and smartest of people, How strange this troubled soul may be beneath your very own steeple.
