Our work will take account of the essential differences between museums, libraries and the arts, as well as the many things they have in common. It is important to understand the distinctive skills, disciplines and purposes of each, while also seeing the potential there is for these three strands of our cultural life to draw together more closely. These goals set out what we will do between now and 2020. They provide the rationale for our investment in arts and culture and will inform our future funding decisions. They bring clarity and focus to our work. We hope they help those who work with us to understand our aims and our funding decisions.
